Bose Triports over ears????

I just got a pair of bose triports. These things are comfortable, but they just plain (excuse my language) suck when it comes down to sound. The sound stage is crippled (Even compared to a set of IEMs) lows are muddy, mids are fairly insignificant, highs are fairly non-existent. Clarity is pretty decent. I have to say, it isn't worth keeping these if I can't do anything with them. One option is just to ditch em. But another is to change up the channels. Is there a possibility to change the speakers of the cup? What resources should I go to do that?

My advice would be to toss them and get a real pair of headphones. Don't bother changing the drivers in the headphones; it will be more of a hassle than you would think. Drivers aren't modular or exchangable between headphones, and why would you keep the bose housings anyways? They're cheap plastic and easy to break. They may be somewhat comfortable but will not match up to AD700s.

Get yourself some AD700s, M50s, DT770s, etc., please.

lol, it's not that I don't have a decent pair of headphones. (I have a pair of SR80i's and numerous great headphones such as MTPC and SE535s). Just thought it would be pretty cool to have a triport housing (Which is thought to be crappy) with a good pair of drivers (Which sound awesome). Just a thought. hehe.

The Triport OE was one of the most comfortable headphones I ever owned, and definitely more comfy than the clumsy wing system of the AD700.  You're also comparing apples to oranges here, the AD700 is a full circum-aural headphone the size of a house -- which by the way is also made out of cheap plastic and is far easier to break than the headband assembly of the OEs -- I can't count the number of Audio Technica cans I've seen with broken wing systems in one way or another. It's just not a durable design. It leaks like crazy and isolates like nymphomaniac at a nude convention.

The Triport is a closed on-ear headphone, a true portable, that folds small enough to fit into a purse, has a very nice detachable cable, and has the absolute most comfortable earpads known to man.  I'd say the housing is worth keeping at least for that, even if you think the sound is crap.

Sheesh, "audiophiles" these days, all they know is how to drink the Kool Aid....

I understand completely. It is not that I don't like the headphone, it is just I don't personally like the sound signature. Just not my cup of tea. I just loved the feel and comfort of the housing. Regardless if it is plastic, it is comfortable. My SR80i's are made of plastic (and premium grade at that) and the comfort of it isn't anything compared to the Triport OE's. It would be cool to use the comfort of the Triports with the sound quality of a Grados or something along those lines.
