A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

If they do, they better wear ear plugs based on Kevin Gilmore's article. More than a half hour's worth damages your hearing, and if anything the clubs have gotten louder since that was published. You could be an audiophile (definition: hifi enthusiast) with terrible hearing though ( but it would be like a blind man paying premiums for art - its your prerogative but utterly pointless.) People already start losing certain frequencies with age too and there's little you can do about it.

I go to festivals and take earplugs. Gotta do something to cut most clubs/festivals by at least 30db.
When I was DJing more often the HD 25s were my go to can for a club because even in the booth it was ridiculous.

No sir! It would damage my hearing............but i do go to concerts
I took the ER20 plugs last time and it made the music just too low, so what i do now is just stay a bit back in the crowd.
I remember the one time where i was pushed right in front of that big stack of speakers they have at the House of Blues, OUCH!!, i believe Cannibal Corpse were playing and i literally had to cover my ear it hurt like a ____!
Yeap, occasionally. But half of the time, I sit at the back and relax. :)

Wish I could make it to more trance shows. I really don't have any good excuses.

I haven't been to an actual concert in a long time. I'm going to see the B-52s next week though (not a huge fan, but the girlfriend loves them) and I'm a little worried about sound levels. I'll be hanging back.

I sing in a metal band, so I spend a fair amount of time standing way too close to three full stacks, with monitors doing their best to keep up. I have trouble hearing people talk, but that's probably for the best...
As much as I love to sit back and relax in my easy chair with cans on, jamming on some prog rock at reasonable levels, I'll never stop going to see bands live.
All that said, I should probably get some custom ear plugs made...
Audiophilia should not affect your lifestyle. If there is a good night club and the chicks are hot and friendly, why not? Are you an 80 year old man? Hell no! Go for it and enjoy. Convert these ladies into audiophiles and stray them away from Bose.

Absolutely not. Audiophiles must also never go to the grocery store, school, work, or the bathroom.

That's what dive bars are for.

No, I won't go anywhere with loud music. Not without earplugs. Some friends play in bar bands. I go, but the plugs always go in.
As for nightclubs... hey, I'll be 40 next year and it would be creepy to show up cruising for 20-something women. I don't like the music, either, and I am not paying $12 for a drink.

Last time I went to a club (you mean like a disco, right?) I was something like 16 or 17, I didn't have plugs, and as soon as I got out my ears started to hurt as if I had gone shooting, and I was half deaf for some hours.
By the way, beyond some commercial songs remixed to stupidity, even the sight was very very sad. I don't know how you can chase a girl in there, the place is so crowded and the volume is too loud to hear what your mates are yelling to you a foot away. Other people were just jumping randomly all over the place, indeed nobody did look happy, at all...
By the way, I'm starting to gain some kind of interest towards electronic music, and moreover I have many friends who say I'd be able to be a DJ somewhere. So... Now... I'd like to give one of those places a try.
Which are the cheapest custom in-ear <25dB isolation headphones I can get?

If you wear them often, the 40 euro price difference between the cheapest and the most expensive custom in-ear plugs gets really small over the 4 years of use. I've got custom in-ear plugs btw. if I happen to not have them on me, I won't go to clubs. Simply because it's really uncomfortable without plugs, the music is way to loud.

40€ are not a very big issue... But that's the "difference" in cost... How much do they cost in total...? And... It's not clear... Can I get just the custom plugs done for any common In-Ear earphones??? Who does offer that service?

To be honest most of the places you get your molds done at will do ear plugs for you as well. Of course they won't do headphones, but plugs are completely possible from the doctor's office itself.
I'm looking into getting some of the customizable plugs out there. The ones you can change to cut 25db, 30db, etc. whenever you want, and depending on the event. They seem like a great idea.
