HE-5LE Amplification problem!

Hi,

I ordered a pair of HE-5LE and was wondering if my ASUS Xonar Essence STX with an internal TPA6120A2 Texas Instruments dedicated headphone amplifier ( http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/tpa6120a2.pdf ), able to drive up to 600Ohms headphones, is enough to drive well my new HE-5LE and, please, how good will it be in doing so.

Another thing I would really like to know is if I could drive them (the HE-5LE) with a Stax SRD-6 amplifier.

And what about HT Omega Claro Halo? I've heard It drives too little power trough the Headphones since it's not conected to the PUS directly, is it truth? Then, how much power each card can put into the headphone output? And how much power, exacly, does de HE-5LE really needs? Please, help me out with this guys!

Thank you for the help. So much.

Hi, I'd say the STX will be able to drive the HE-5LE. I've tried the HE-6 with the ST, while it's certainly not optimal, it sounds fine. It's plenty loud with the volume at 8% with extra high gain.

I often plug my HE-6 straight into the STX when I am watching movies to enjoy Dolby Headphone and I am always pleasantly surprised how good it sounds.

Ok then. Now, when using an external HP Amp, which output should I use on the STX? The headphone amplified OP or the RCA OP? Thinking about using the HP OP to use the soundcard as a pre-amplifier to headphones. Also, would you recomend the EF-5 HiFiMan HP Amp for the HE-5LE?

Thanks for the help guys!

You should use the line out (RCA) when you connect an amp to the STX.

I haven't heard the EF5, I'm using a Schiit Lyr myself.

What about this ones (link), are they any good for HE-5LEs? How many Watts can they drive trough the HP OP?
