Missed having the Focal Spirit One headphones for the meet by 1 day. frown.gif I'd pre-ordered not knowing they would ship this soon. Just got shipment notice today and I had it set for 2 day Fedex, but 2 days puts it at Monday not tomorrow.

Yes, you can still listen to them, and, well, a ray of hopeful light has dawned of sorts.  My wife thinks she can fix them. tongue_smile.gif So one way or the other, I'll bring them.  But if she manages to attach them back we'll just need to be real careful with them.

I guess if they can't be fixed, this maybe gives me an excuse to try out the DT1350 as a new portable phone which I've been eyeing for awhile.  Still my ESW9s have sentimental value;  bought them in a headphone store in Akihabara, Tokyo.  So I'm really hoping she gets em fixed.

Yeah I have a couple that are in delicate condition like yours might be if you get them fixed. My HD600 has a snapped headband and my RE262 has a wire that is kinked pretty badly. I'll have them both with me, but only available at request so I can warn people where they are damaged. They both sound perfectly fine, but care must be taken or they will finish falling apart.

I have just about everything packed, I got a folding card table from the neighbor that I am bringing for the little bit of super budget gear I have.  My brother and I are heading down tomorrow night, staying the night in Georgetown at a generic motel that was cheap.  I can't wait to meet everyone and maybe spin some of my treasured vinyl that I haven't heard.

Sounds like everyone is staying in Georgetown, haha. I'm fully packed except my clothes/toiletries I'll finish in the morning. My car is pretty much fully loaded. Glad I didn't end up needing to give anyone a ride from Dallas or elsewhere along the way.

I'm staying in Hutto, which is allegedly about 10 miles out from the site, and heading down late afternoon... maybe have dinner with some friends in Pfleugerville, or sit in the room and check out some old gear (HEV70) to see if it still works, and try out the new CTH, which is, apparently, working.   :-)

Hutto is really close to us, so you'll be one of the first ones there (if you want to be anyway). I know I'd like some personal time with your rig before more people show up around noon. :D

Earrat has informed me he probably won't be able to attend as a family member has become ill. Thoughts are with him.

Hrm.  Just processed the above.  So does this mean when I connect my FiiO E17 via Optical to my Sony SCD-SE595 and listen to a SACD, I'm not using the E17 DAC but rather the one onboard the Sony?

Also-  Lila and I couldn't be more excited. bigsmile_face.gif

Oops. Double post, sorry.

It's possible that your Sony can output digital from an SACD (some players can whether straight DSD or converting to PCM), but there's a catch. Here's how it was explained to me...

"because of the copyright restrictions on SACDs, the digital output will be of limited quality –

because legal restrictions force the player to deliberately reduce the quality of the digital outputs."

Not sure if this is actually true, of course...

OH... and 6 confirmed SACDs as door prizes (up to our gracious host to distribute them, as he sees fit), and, bringing my eXStatA, which will be available if someone is looking for a middling stat amp.   ;-)

Oh well if I have to distribute them I can't keep them all. :D

Kidding.

I'm sure I'll figure something out (maybe a drawing of some kind). One would totally go to the person that buys my SA8004. (lol)

Ahh...Power corrupts so quickly.

EDIT: Are they all hybrids?

Some are (which I can use), and the ones I'm bringing aren't... hence why I'm donating them... in fact just found a couple more. These include DSOTM, Police: Synchronicity, Aerosmith: Oh Yeah, Alison Krause: New Favorite and (maybe) SRV: Texas Flood (gotta make sure that one isn't a hybrid).

I'm certainly ok if you happen to 'win' some in the distribution, as we seem to have a rich history of that in Texas (as some at the Houston meets can attest)...   :-)

And, if ya'll have discs that are of no interest, bring 'em along. I have 30 to get rid of (stuff I just don't care for), and worst case I'll sell them for $1 - and, most are something someone (other than me) wants (Cowboy Junkies, Dave Brubeck, yada, yada, yada). And, no calling shotgun - we'll do it all at the meet...   :-)

So I guess you've given up on SACD entirely then? I see you aren't using the 840C anymore and are headed to the PS Audio DAC. It's a shame SACD is so heavily protected. Not being able to mix and match components really blows and surely limited adoption of the standard.
