Hi guys. I'm after some advice, please.
I've just replaced my old Sony A-series MP3 player for a Sony X-series that was half price (because they're discontinued) and am pretty damn ecstatic over the increase in sound quality....and when I bought it, as far as I was concerned, the A-series was the best sounding mass-consumer MP3 player on the market, so you can imagine how happy I am with my new toy.
The X-series comes with a pair of noise-cancelling in-the-ear headphones which I suspect are specific to the MP3 player - leastways, I've not been able to find a model number other than "EX type". Now, I'm much more of a closed-can kind of man but these little 'phones make my old Sennheiser PX200s sound weak and ineffectual. As it's my birthday today, I treated myself to a Fiio E11 which'll be arriving tomorrow so I'd like to know what closed-back 'phones you can recommend me that will sound as good (hopefully) as the OEM ear-buds.
I am 43 which I know will have an effect on how sensitive my ears are to certain frequencies, so please bear that in mind. My music tastes are extremely eclectic; I used to be a metal-head when I was a kid, and that's still the case, but I love bass-heavy electronica like dubstep and psy-trance, as well as reggae, punk, sharki, pop, ska and dub, electro-tango, classical....Blimey; you name it, and I probably have some! Essentially, I am a music lover; I can't give you a favourite genre because I listen to so many, but on the whole, I tend towards rock and electronica.
My budget is around £60 - £70 ($90 - $120 or thereabouts). I'll be using the E11 to boost the new 'phones, so please take that into consideration.
