Hi guys, first post here. I've owned a pair of Audio Technica ES7s for a while and I loved them. Unfortunately I accidentally drove around with the jack dragging out from the car and badly damaged them. Then a couple days back same thing happened to its replacement but only half of the tip of the jack was scratched off. While I was too scared to test out if the first pair was still alive, I was able to test the 2nd pair on a friend's iPod and it worked OK. I was wondering if continued use of the damaged jack will cause damage to my devices (iPhone, laptop, etc..) and if the 1st pair has any chance of working. Thanks in advance.
edit: Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I thought this would be the best place to put it.

A very all-round headphone for me. Just the right one to take on the go or on holiday. Also as a DJ, nice noice isolation. Very durable so you don't have to wonder if it will break if you throw...

It's always possible to replace the jacks if that is what is damaged. You can also try the phones themselves by taking a jack with a short length of stereo cable and making a temporary connection to the damaged jack. Just don't short the wires together. The Audio Technica site says the cable is OFC so this should be solderable.
If you post a picture of the damage it'll be easier to get some specific advice.

Thanks for the response. I wanted to attach some pictures but I don't have my headphones with me at the moment, will probably add the photos when I get home. I'll attempt to describe it: the rings and the sleeve of the jacks are perfectly fine, just half of the tip is worn off. It's rough because it was dragged on the ground. What I'm worried about is that because it's rough, it will wear out the ports of my devices I plug it in to.

OK, it is always a possibility that the damaged jack will damage the socket with repeated insertions.
If you don't mind the extra length you can always plug the damaged one into an adapter and plug the adapter into a reverse adapter and thence into the source.
