Did iOS 5 alter the sound?

I am sure its not my imagination that my iPod touch 4G seems to have more mids, and slightly rolled off highs (the shriek) after iOS5.

It just seems more listenable?

Anyone else? or am I just hearing things?

:)

*I bought a Cowon C2 before iOS5 came out and could notice the difference easily, now they seem closer.

Running iOS 5 on an iPhone 3GS. At first i thought so but now i've gotten over it and can't say for sure whether it changed the sound or not.

What i'm sure of is that iOS 5 ruined my Cover Flow ;(

My Cover Flow still works fine...I never use it, but I just tried and it's fine.

Mine lags a lot when i scroll quickly through the album covers. It seems to be affecting even iPhone 4S's as well.

Ah my mistake, I was using Flacplayer app, I tried the stock iPod touch music player (with ALAC tracks) and still the same bad quality sound as before ios5.

I did some switching from iPod touch 4G (using the flacplayer app) to cowon C2 on flat/mormal and with jet effects and am convinced flacplayer in its current version stands alongside in quality, and this was done using the headphone out.

Hook your player up to the computer, open itunes & do a restore. That should solve the laggy coverflow issue.
