How do A151s compare to ATH-M50s?

I'm looking for some IEMs.  I'd preferably pay under $50, but I'm a bang for buck kinda guy so if something is $100+ but that much better, I would consider it.  I'm currently scratching my chin over the likes of the GR07 and EX600.

 

I listen to a wide range of music (electronic, indie rock, indie pop, metal, hardcore, punk, experimental, new wave, etc.) so I suspect a balanced spectrum is best for me, which is why I went with my M50s and am considering the A151s; but I fear that the bass might be too lacking in the A151s, based on reviews.  I want balanced.. but I like my bass too.

 

I'll be using these while commuting to work so some noise reduction is ideal.  My source material is going to likely be a rooted (Android) Nook or an Android phone.  Also, I have small ears, so if that makes a difference..

 

Thoughts?

I find the bass on the A151s sufficient, and keep in mind I also have the Panasonic HJE900s and VSonic GR07. Given what you listen to, I doubt you'd have a problem with the bass...though to be fair, I haven't listened to the M50s.

 

They do a good job with isolation, particularly if you use the double or triple flange tips.

I find the bass on the a151 and GR07s to be about equal in impact, with the A151 perhaps emphasizing mid-bass and lower mids and the GR07 presenting with more sub-bass and--to my ears at least--lacking a bit of mid bass punch. 

 

Not sure exactly how much bass you like, but I'm also currently in pursuit of something with a bit more visceral but still controlled bass.  I'm intrigued by reviews of the JVC FXT90 which seem to fit the criteria of balance across the spectrum with perhaps a bit of a wink toward the lower end so I thought I'd give them a mention for you to check out as well.  Nothing like overwhelming one with choice, eh?

That's good to hear as I just ordered them this morning.  Should be at my door tomorrow or Thursday so I'll see for myself.   I'm still contemplating the GR07 and other mid/high end IEMs but I needed something for this week.

I've also been looking at the FXT90, but what's put me off is that the reviews in Japan aren't as raving as the folks in this forum.  I'll wait until there's more info.
