Hooking up my AD700's to my PS3 and Xbox 360?

So I am buying both a PS3 and an Xbox 360 in a few days and I don't want to buy any of those disgusting Turtle Beach headsets. I would much rather use my AD700's.

I realize it is probably as easy as buying a F 3.5mm -> F RCA but then how would I control the volume? Are there any RCA volume switches?

Are there any other ways of doing it as well, such as using an amplifier? I really don't want to spend over $50.

Both the PS3 and Xbox360 come with RCA outputs (you can use both RCA output and HDMI output) so you can plug that output into the inputs of a receiver/amp and still use HDMI for video. A fiio E9 would be good for you I think. If you want to both the PS3 and 360 you just need a splitter

That is very expensive. I really don't want to spend more than $50 on this. Isn't there any kind of volume control I can buy for like ~$20 or any cheaper amps?

Ive never used it but I think this will work, but you will need some sort of switcher to use the ps3 and xbox at the same time and a RCA to 3.5mm.

Volume control

RCA to 3.5mm (to go from the outputs of the PS3/xbox switcher to the volume control)

Switcher

i have a 3.5mm female plug on one end and 2 female red/white rca connections on the other end of the interconnect.  this puts the sound from the system directly to your ears without the tv's or monitor's sound card.  probably the best sounding way to go.  if you want to use it at teh same time with the 360, i also have a dual 3.5mm female connection to a 3.5mm male connection interconnect.  this allows you to plug in both sources like a speaker system and headphone.  if you just want the ad700 for both, you will need a dual rca connection to a 3.5mm female.  i can make you one of them pretty cheap just let me know if you want anything custom done and i will whip it up for you for next to nothing.

here is what you want and its also the cheapest.

just hook each dual red/white plugs from the ps3 and 360 to each of these outlets.  then you can just plug in your 3.5mm male to the ad700.  one thing i will also mention to you is getting the Samson SR850 instead of the AD700.  i had the ad700 and the bass was very lacking.  these SR850 supposedly are even better than the ad700 one reviewer said and they have decent bass.  i highly suggest these over the ad700, i am going to get a pair i think just for gaming.  here they are.

get both of these and thank me later.

Turtle Beach DSS, you'll be able to control volume AND you'll get surround sound. You can buy new from amazon for $70 or a recertified one from TB for $50.

i got a turtle beach once from walmart and it was probably the 2nd worst purchase i ever made.  i have been on headfi for over a year and have been very much into gaming and researching throughout the whole time.  trust me, get the stuff i listed in the comment before this.  if you decide to get it, just thank me now for pushing you so hard to get it.  that way you wont waste anytime in the gaming awesomeness you will experience.

it might have been an ear force.  it was so long ago.  it was white and came with a mic.  i just remember it being so terribly tight and sounding horrible.

The DSS isn't headphones at all though, it's an amplifier/processor.  See items such as the Mixamp or SU-DH1.

Judging from my experience with DH I'd say go for with the DSS or Mixamp (wired).  I have a SU-DH1 which pretty much requires a separate amp to work, but the results are good and it also does DTS for movies.
