Thanks, didn't know that.
A/Bing the two headphones through the srm313, the sr303 is obviously technically superior to the original lambda--96khz/24bit classical recordings are clearer and more detailed (less "grainy" or something, I don't know the vocabulary) and it holds its own better with finer details when cranked up painfully loud. It also has more bass maybe, but not really a lot more. Frequencies from 20hz to 20khz are audible through both (I couldn't hear 10hz, but that's probably because I physically can't hear 10hz), but around 1khz or 2khz is noticeably louder on the sr303, I think, and 20hz might be, too.
The thing is...through the same amp bad recordings sound better with the original lambda. A lot of the early 90s alternative rock I like (Weezer, Smashing Pumpkins) sounds very flat through the sr303 and punchier, more dynamic with the lambda. There's definitely more heft to music, and this makes super high qualities recordings sound less detailed, but it also makes alternative rock sound better and female vocals sound better, too.
Is there anything that has the punchiness and mid tones of the lambda with the detail of the sr303? Anything affordable? I'm having trouble deciding what to keep now.
