I understand that the adapter isn't as nice as the other ones that you linked but I can't soldier you see and can't find anywhere cheap that has the OPA2111AM on its own... this is all irrelevant if creative respond and say mixing opamps is fine...
Thanks

If they don't and you have to keep the opamps the same I'll sort you another 2111AM on a brown dog for a nominal sum. I still have one or two lying around so don't sweat it...

Nah we're cool mate £10 should see you ok for one on a brown dog, I got a few a while back off a studio engineer who didn't know what he had.

Don't chip in Leeperry, I know you and your OCD regarding adapters (and opamps for that matter)....

Haha cheers dude,

I'll let you know what creative say when they email back!

Do you think this will be £10 well spend, i.e is the AM version that much better than the KP in your opinion?

Oh, hehe I forgot Mr Perfect:http://www.head-fi.org/t/432749/the-opamp-thread/3450#post_7750671

I don't nearly own that many opamps, but I'm the one who's OCD'ed biggrin.gif

Bending TO99 into DIP8 is a terrible idea, and it also sounds far from optimal....you'll realize it someday wink_face.gif

Danny don't worry Leeperry is having a dig at me coz the one time I never had any TO99 adapters so just bent the pins into a dip socket. Works for me! He has this theory that different adapters sound better/worse than others...

That pic was taken before I got my PB-2 (balanced portable) which takes 8 x single OpAmps/buffers. I've invested heavily the last couple of months hehe. Anyway take a chill pill Leeperry, I didn't mean anything by it, you got the visitors in or somthin'?

Danny the AM version is definately better than the KP. Those AM's retail at about £40 each without the Brown Dog so £10 is a steal and money well spent. If you do get into rolling? you will soon learn which sound you prefer, we all have our favourites but the 2111AM is a great place to start, I really like it.

Ok cheers mate :)

With the 2111AM would you reccomend LME47910NA or AD797ANZ for the buffers? Already have these so dont really want to buy any others :(

The 2111AM is a smooth opamp so might benefit from the analylical nature of the AD797 but your best bet is to suck it and see. If you ever feel like changing the buffers, Buf634AU are quite nice stacked one on top of the other but my favourite is the HA5002 which is just perfect  to my ears.

It was thoroughly discussed in the opamp thread of the DIY forum, murrays said that he didn't like the browdogs due to inductance problems that were prone to make the opamps oscillate. But the new search engine is fubar, so I can't find his posts anymore. I'm sure you know that opamps are highly sensitive devices but keep on kludging my good man, it's a free world cool.gif
