I will be using them in axis 95% of the time so thats not an issue, the only dilema is how will they sound (to my ears) which i will chek tomorrow or in few days :)

I you don't mind DIY and have external amplification I would suggest the GR Research N1X speakers.

If you don't mind active speakers..

 

I would suggest you Focal-xs 2.1 or B&W MM-1.

This is a little over your price range at $650 but I'd check out the Pioneer S-DJO5 active monitors: http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-S-DJ05-Reference-Monitoring-Speakers/dp/B004I832DM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_npd?ie=UTF8&coliid=I3LYOHTRH9XETS&colid=12AAQ7VFNB2CL.  They have a lot of pretty cool features.

Ok guys me again, today i when to chek the Adam A3x in the store, and they where quite good considering i listen to them quite little only few mins.

 

Now i got some questions regarding some possible issues.

 

There was huge debate over Gearslutz forum, about Adam AX series and possible port noise issues, with bass heavy material.

 

This issue has been totally fixed with new speakers revisions, but the problem is even they cleary stated (users on Geralslutz) what revisions/serial number had the fixed new bass reflex, that was only for A7x line up and possibly for Ax8, but they never said anything about A3x :(

 

So now, i dont know what to do, if anyone know what serial numbers does the fixed Adam A3x revisions start with or how to recognize them i would be really helpful!

 

On another note, do this speakers Adam A3x, come with active crossover? what is the advantage/disadadvntage passive vs active ?

 

Also one more thing, this speakers come with 5 years warranty everywhere where i saw them, but where i live they offer only 1 year warranty, is this big deal? or speakers are generally quite robust? i will listen to them on low volumes most of the time, and that being said, do they sound good on low volume? at the store, i only listen to them on 1/3 and man...they are so loud for such a low size lol!

I got a pair of Aktimate Minis for $450. Brilliant speakers, and I've read reviews where people have paid up to $800 for them and have still rated them very highly.

Thanks bud, but im kind limited to this 3 pairs, i'm 90% sure ill get the A3x but first ill wait someome to answer (if know) about revisions and warranty, till now on Gearslutz, they told me that no matter what the seller states 1 year warranty, if the original product maker (Adam) offer 5 years warranty, i got 5 year warranty, is this true?

I'm about as sure as you are on this, but I'd assume that the 5 year warranty would apply if you sent the speakers directly to the manufacturer. If you wanted to send it back to the retailer you bought it from, they'd only give you 1 year.

Get cheap floorstanding speakers (I've seen Paradigm monitors for $150 each). They'll bring quality without an extreme price. Avoid 5.1 speakers unless you don't care for music quality.

I just bought the M-Audio Bx5a pair, i also plan to get the asus xonar stx soundcard, since this was already brought up earlier in this thread and didn't want to clutter the forum with another thread can anybody let me know the best way to wire them up? and where should i plug my ad700 cans into? the bx5a or my soundcard directly? thanks for the help guys, i appreciate it.

The ATH-AD700s should be plugged into the Xonar Essence STX's 1/4 (6.35mm) headphone jack using the 1/8 (3.5mm) female to 1/4 (6.35mm) male adapter.

I guess you will need 1/4 (6.35mm) stereo male to RCA male cable to hook up the Bx5a speakers to the RCAs on the Essence STX.
