Good quality Dixieland?

I play the trumpet in my spare time and I am looking for good quality dixieland albums.

In the 50s there was a label called Good Time Jazz that put out well recorded Dixieland. Their top act was The Firehouse Five, a group consisting of Disney animators that was excellent. You might try that.

I agree with recommondation of the Good Time Jazz label.  Another suggestion from their collection that you might look into is Kid Ory's Creole Jazz Band.  As you probably know, Kid Ory was with Louis Armstrong when he was creating the landmark Hot Five/ Hot Seven sessions.  His '50's recordings for GTJ are a joy for anyone that loves that dixieland sound.

Unfortunately I love the music but it is not a good recording of it.

Take a look at the Preservation Hall (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Preservation_Hall_Jazz_Band) recordings.

Even better, if you visit New Orleans, there really is a Preservation Hall on Bourbon Street. I spent a very, very happy night (and early morning) there with a cigar and far too many drinks.

My recollection is a little hazy, but I remember being very happy and having a great time. Highly recommended!

Being hazy at Preservation Hall is a requirement.

But I have to be honest, the PHJB is better viewed live than heard in recordings.

Kid Ory is a great recommendation. I'll add clarinettist Sidney Bechet to the list, and suggest that a  Dixieland trumpet player who hasn't studied Bix Beiderbecke hasn't even started playing yet.

Mentioning Sydney Bechet brought to mind another great dixieland musician to look for - Muggsy Spanier; who played cornet/trumpet from the 20's thru the 50's both as a side man and also leading his own bands.  He played cornet on several of Bechet's recordings, however, his own recordings might be harder to locate.

BTW, another vote for seeing the PHJB live.
