Why is everyone talking about the Magnum drivers as matching the RS2 or besting them. As dleblanc343 has posted, the Magnum drivers are more on the HD800 and LCD-2 level of refinement. I believe, at the point where Ryhdon is at with his version 4 Magnums, it excels over all the Grados, midfi (RS2, HF-2, PS500, RS1) and hifi (GS1000 & PS1000).
@ Strat - I definitely agree, and who wouldn't get a real kick out of matching or besting a highly regarded set like the RS2 with about $300 in total investment and some elbow grease? My modded SR60i is starting to really grow on me, I realized I might not have completely burned in the drivers since I tore these apart a long time ago straight out of the box as a new pair. So I've been running them for a couple of days now to make sure the drivers are broken in. I also did a felt mod to the grille in the cups that controls the bass better, I now have tighter bass while also an increased/smoother delivery of mids and highs. They're sounding killer now.
Well I've read everything in the magnum thread, and people who own hd800's and lcd2 rev2's are saying the magnums (built from 325/ms2) compete right up there in that class. And that's what's gotten me really interested. If I can get something that sounds like something in the 1200$ range for a maximum investment of 400-500$; there's no doubt in my mind that Rhydon's made something very very nice.
