Will pure copper mini to mini cables help harsh/sibilant trebles?

I recently upgraded to Sflo2 -> Fiio L8 -> Stepdance -> DBA-02 and I find that the treble for some tracks contain a very slight static/crackling sound.  I know my iems are pretty bright and can be a bit harsh at times, but I do enjoy the detail they provide.  I am just wondering if upgrading my Fiio L8 ($10) to something like the iBasso CB06 ($32) or Moon Audio Black Dragon ($75) might help with the harsh treble in my setup?

I read around the forums and found that pure copper interconnects could add some warmth to the overall sound, but I'm just not sure if it's enough to help with my bright iems.

I also tried switching tips on my iems, and they do help a little with the brightness, but it also covered up too much detail to my liking.

Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I might just invest on a CB06 then since its not too expensive and I'm also finding the bass to be a bit weak or pudgy compared to the normal punchy bass I hear from my iems without the amp.

I think that amp is lacking synergy with your IEMs.  I would change that first before cable rolling.

try DHC cables, their nucleotide wire can really bring out the bass and definitely help with any harshness or sibilant trebles. Very balanced and neutral, won't emphasize on a certain thing. Well at least this is what i found from using there symbiote IEM cable. check them out, its worth a try.

Thanks for the replies guys.

@ Mad Max - I think you're right, my setup does work better with other headphones and iems I own, but I also found that it may be caused by bad quality flacs since I hear similar flaws from all my headphones, some just seem to mask them better.

@ eclipes - I am getting some quality diy copper minis from cantsleep so I'm probably not going to jump on the DHC cables even though I saw some pretty good reviews on them that fits my situation perfectly, thanks for the recommendation.

I guess I'll just have to see if pure coppers will change anything when I get the cables and report back.

The crackling might be clipping - a problem with the amp not supplying enough power.

Sibilance occurs during live performances. It is not a fault of the recording, amp or headphones.

If your IEMs are too forward for you, try different IEMs.

One item that won't make a difference is the cable. You'll find that your new cable measures the same as your old one.

I the frequencies transmitted don't change, then how could it possibly make a difference?

I'd look into a different amp if you're clipping or different IEMs if you want a different sound. Don't spent money on something that doesn't directly address the problem.

Cables may change the tone and soundstage subtly, but it sounds like there's a problem with your gear or recordings, not your cables.

Would the changes be more prominent if the iem cables were swapped with pure copper (DHC) or would the changes then still be barely noticeable?  It would definitely be wiser to just switch iems, but I'm just curious at this point.

I would play around with your gear, if you can swap each individual components for something else, if there's really bad scratchiness that probably isn't normal.  If it's a minor problem then cables might help, if it's not a case of the gear malfunctioning.

No.

You're new to the controversy, but it has been going on for the better part of 30 years.

In that time, countless tests have been performed to determine differences between cables.

Nothing has ever turned up. Nothing at all.

One camp says that they hear differences. However, no one has ever been able to hear a difference when they didn't know what kind of cable the were listening to. No one hears a difference without seeing the cable.

It should also be mentioned that cables have the highest margin - or profit - of any audio hardware.

This is why it makes sense to buy sturdy, well-made cables that cost slightly more and spend the rest of your money on things that matter, like headphones and more music.
