hey,

I'm looking for some new IEM's for my iPhone, I had the v-moda vibe duo's and they were pretty amazing. Loved the bass of them.

I was looking something similar but better mids and highs. budget is 50AUD.

my girlfriend was also looking for some headphones, she said she wants some that rest on her head but not bulky, by this im guessing that she wants some over ear ones.

her budget's the same as mine.

thanks :)

i just ordered the JVC Xtreme Xplosives HA-FX1X in-ear headphons.

I read many amazing reviews on them.

Actually I just picked a pair up, on first glance they look fully open backed.  I have to be very honest and say I've never come across a fully open set of iem's.

i've read reviews saying that they got good sound isolation.

could you let me know how they are?

I've not really tested out out isolation yet, but considering the silicone plugs are VERY identical to the Sennheiser CX-200 ones the isolation will be near identical, basically you don't have to crank the volume up far to get rid of medium background noises.

The bass itself is pretty mindblowing and I REALLY like my bass!  The open back makes quite an impact on the quality of the audio, the bass is nice and rich but I would imagine purists wouldn't like the heavy bass to much.  The mids and highs are really clear with all that bass flying around and actually sounds a lot more expensive for an iem of this price range.

Just for an example I'm listening to Erykah Badu's Mamma's Gun album off my ipod classic and through my cmoybb headphone amp.  The bass really kicks and the high hats roll with such grace!

I do have a couple of grumbles with them, though it's mostly with design choices:

The strain relief on the cable looks to be pretty poor and slops around a fair bit, both on the earpieces and the plug, I have no idea how long they will last in that respect, best to be really gentle with them!

The other thing is they use paper type baffles, whereas my CX-200's have a wire mesh.  The reason this isn't too great is because if you have a wax problem in your ears and you get a buildup on the baffles it might ruin them.

Those things aside, if you treat your "phones" with care, these should last for ages.  I love the general idea of these things and if they changed the baffles and gave them better strain relief these would be perfect!
