I have been using a 16 g S639 for a couple of years. Now I am looking for another sony with the same sound features as the s639. Could some of you Sony experts tell me what newer players sound as good as the S639 that is about the same size. It does not have to be the latest models. Something I could pick up off of Ebay would be fine. Thanks

This is a review of a pair of free IEM's I recieved from DUNU as part of a give away contest they recently held here on Head-fi. When I recieved my package the first thing I notices was...

Best closed headphones I had heard - very flat response, almost no midrange distortion, very easy to drive (good for portable), good soundstage (definately better than K240), good isolation, but...

Overall excellent buds, very good sound quality, especially for their price, the medium set of tips fits exactly in my ears and provides a near perfect seal. Bass is very detailed, but not...

I'll keep this very short. They are very smooth sounding. Treble toned down so not so good for rock but have a magic about them that makes them better than mark 2. I use them with a '89/'90...

If you are willing to go used, my opinion is that he X1050/1060 is unbeatable, but many here find the sound too warm. Posted some measurements on a few Sony players recently but they were dismissed/ignored by most.
Thanks, I found that the sound of the 639 was My sound after going thru several different mfg. I will look into the 1050 today. I just want the 639 sound it does not have to be the newest thing out. Thanks again
And what about the S755/S765? To me the S755 model looks better, and they probably sound the same. I´ve got both S639 and sony X. To me the sony s sounds slightly better, because it has no hiss and has better bass. The sony X is warmer (nothing that haven´t been said here).
The problem with newer models is the volume limitation, but I think that with IEMS there isn´t such problem. Never tried one with this cap anyway. If this S model sound the same as the previous models i would stick with it, and the user interface and form factor is great.

There is also the A865/6/7
The S75 and S76 series are good.. they sound the same, but the former comes with noise cancelling iems and the latter has bluetooth.
Have you seen both in person? To me the S755 looks very good, a bit retro, one thing I like. The other one don´t know how it is, only in photos. Is it plastic or metal? What do you prefer?
They're both metal and just as good as each other imo..
I slightly prefer the S754.

I would highly, highly recommend the A728. It not only sounds amazing (better to my ears than the Clip+, HM-602, Touch, and iPhone 4S) but it's also been especially durable; it's been with me since 2008 and it's still going strong.
It's the only mp3 player I've truly loved.
Caveat: it hisses.
edit ADD: I also have the 754 and I recommend that one too!

I would love to find another S639 but I can't find a new one and if I get a used one I am worried about the battery. I am looking at the E355 around 90 bucks on ebay and the E465 I can get new off the Sony site(I could use the record feature for work). Does anyone know if these would have the same sound engine as the s639? My 639 is working fine, I just want another player for 16 more gig. Since Sony don't think we can handle 32 gigs in the US. Also are any of the players you buy in the US volume capped? Thanks everyone for your help. I am about to make a purchase and I will leave everyone alone. Thanks again

I had an E345 and S545 at one point, and an S639 a little later on, and to me they all sounded the same. So I would think either of those E-series you mention would probably be a good fit for you.
