I started out very similar to you, but then recently got into SPEAKERS because I wanted to 

be able to play some tunes for my GIRLFRIEND when she comes over. 

But... I miss my headphones, so I guess I'll have to get back in the HEAD-FI game.

I'm happy you said LCD2 is K701 with bass. Though I already love the simple bass of K701, I think LCD-2 is also nice headphone to experience. I wish we have enough money---but the patience and experience with several headphones is worth noting. I think the more headphones you experience, the better headfier you are. I am already getting many experiences of my K701-which before I found mediocre-but now-K701 is an angel in my ears.
