Nice pics, which headphones you currently use with your Ds? (aside from the Q701's)
HD650 and the LCD-2 (I'm going to a meet next week so a lot more headphones than just those).
Has anyone tried driving HE-500s with these? I'm curious to know if the burson can power these adequately.
Even though I haven't tried the HE-500 with these, they will have more than enough power, as my HA-160DS has a lot of power behind it.
Hello,
l am thinking about purchasing one of these amps. Do you think it is worth the money or do you think there are less expensive alternatives? I have 701s and Hd 600s.
Looks like only 250mW max...Not ideal for orthos IMO:
"Output power: 250mW (less than 1% distortion)"

Whoops, didn't see that. I need to start looking at the manual, instead of just going off sheer impressions. Sorry everyone who has orthos.
How does it pair with Beyer T1? I heard the combination of 160D and T1 was bright and not appropriate.
Does the 160DS correct this issue? or not?
Thanks in advance
I have just received my HA-160DS, and It is a very poor match for the HE-500. Low volume and anemic bottom end. It was outperformed by a wide margin by my Fiio E9/E17.
It's so bad, I contacted Burson, and they indicated that I could ship my amp and my HE-500 to them to optimize. I was unable to get an answer from them on what this optimization might involve.
At nearly $200 to ship from Canada to Australia, this was a non starter.
The saving grace, is that with my Lawton LA-7000, they are a match made in heaven! Deep and impactful bass, rich mids and vocals, and controlled high end. The speed and clarity is stunning. My previous systems, Lyr/LCD-2 rev 2 and My HD800 were both well loved, but the HA-160DS with the LA-7000 is damn near perfect.
Highly Recommended, just not with the HE-500.

Thank you for posting this! I have been seriously considering an HA-160 with my HE-500s but wasn't sure what I would be getting into. Seems like a Schiit Lyr is in my future.

Thanks for sharing your experience. do you have any update after burn in? any major changes in sound? the Ds after 40+ hours of burn in improves its sound.
im curious about the optimization.
The 160D/DS are all solid state, so there is no burn in.
And to the poster with the T1's, I read the same thing that the 160D/DS are not a good match. I went ahead and ordered the Schiit Lyr myself on the advice that the T1's do better with a decent tube amp.
Wow..i dont want to start a debate about Burn-in, do some reading.
And its true that some people prefer tubes with the T1's instead SS amps in general.
I, too, was contemplating mating the HD-160DS with the HE-500 but glad I read this thread first. I also read the V200 thread and was eating up all the "synergy" talk pairing the HE-500 and the V200. I'm seriously considering that route.
