I didn't say spectators, I said people; as in people in general. I'm sure motor-lovers don't want to see crashes, that's a given. But the majority of people only care about motor sport when there is a crash, that's all I'm referring to. Banning the 'sport' because of this would be a bit rash, I simply don't think people should die playing a game, which sport is. I would like to see 'sport' removed from racing and placed in the same recreational category as sky diving and air shows. Perhaps with a less competitive edge that wouldn't force people to push themselves and get killed.

True majority people don't pay attention to motorsports unless something tragic happens and makes headline news.

The problem with IndyCar is that since they are based here in America they have to race on ovals or else no one would go to the races (this is why I'm not a big fan of IndyCar and hate NASCAR). I was hearing today on ESPN that they were considering going to all roadcourses in the future but I doubt they can survive long if they do that. I think they are going to have to convert to F1 America with slower/safer cars, 80-90% roadcourses, and reducing number of competitors. Hopefully they don't experience the same huge drop off as rally did when they banned group B to get safer.

I completely agree. I've thought for years that if an American fan can't see the cars all the way around the track, they're not interested. In other words,

if they have to think about it, forget it.

(I say this as a fan of drag racing, which is based on an even shorter attention span.)
