Sennheiser RS170

Hi There!

I bought a pair of these a year ago, after reading so many good reviews, but to be honest I feel like I may have a dud pair..

Ever since I got them, when there is no sound or not enough sound from the source I can hear like a buzzing/hum/hiss type noise, like noise cancelling headphones make. I am probably only 3-4 Meters from the headphone jack. It gets worse as the batteries get lower, but I am wondering if I just overestimated them or they are indeed faulty?

I am not sure if it's possible to change the channel they are broadcasting on, or factory reset them, or re-pair it, but something isn't right I am quite sure.

Thanks for any assistance.

So no-one has any suggestions? The problem persisted after a warranty repair and there is noticeable low end hiss when there is no sound?

If you have the base station plugged into the headphone jack of your source, try to increase the volume of the source to about 80%. See if that fixes it.

If it is plugged into the line out of your source, then the problem might lie elsewhere.

Mine exhibit exactly the same problem, when source sound volume is low, they cut out and play some buzz/noise. What I've done, which has helped a bit, was to decrease volume on the headphones themselves and increased the volume on the source (TV's headphone out).

Frankly, a bit of a disgrace...

Just from what i have read is that you need to increase the volume of the source to its loudest level until you get distortion and then decrease it until the distortion ceases! Another thing you may try is to re~pair the cans to the transmitter again! They are paired n the factory but it won't hurt to try ...I hope this helps!

They have an attenuator switch on the transmitter, it is a good idea to use it.
