Incidentally, in addition to less strain on the electronics, I have found that when you leave the unit on for a day or two, SQ improves. It seems to flow more easily and become more immediate (subtle yet still audible). I've experienced exactly the same phenomenon with other CD players and DACs I've owned. Whether or not this is worth the extra energy consumption is another matter though
