what to power B&W DM601 S3 bookshelf speakers with?

a friend gave me his old B&W DM601 S3 bookshelves as he uses his B&W towers primarily

http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Downloads/Product/Archive/ENG_FP10250_DM601_info_sheet.pdf

right now im debating what to power it with

i have a small apartment livingroom with a new Panasonic 55" plasma

i listen to jazz, guitar, 60's and 70's music mostly

sometimes classical

main source will be either from TV, PS3 or my sandisk Clip+

i was thinking of getting the Dayton DTA100a for $100 from amazon http://www.amazon.com/Dayton-DTA-100a-Class-T-Digital-Amplifier/dp/B004JK8BDK/ref=sr_1_4?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1318755802&sr=1-4

do you think it is enough?

Thanks.

I am running a TA2020 amp that outputs far less power than the DTA-100A but i use them for near field/PC Audio with 89db efficient speakers. For up to a distance of say 10 feet away on my bed they are still loud enough but that depends from person to person tongue_smile.gif My feeling is if for strictly 2.0 that Dayton with your speakers would be fine for a small apartment living room duty

thanks

i was looking into the lepai too and thought dayton is the minimum needed to drive the B&Ws

i also followed the recommendation of one of the review and ordered a pre-amp to balance things out a bit

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000C8CFU

cant wait!

for now

before i go big into the amp and pre-amp stage...

my friend that gave me the speakers is powering his B&W towers with Macintosh integrated

and advised me to do it right the first time instead of upgrading over time

his point makes sense, i will end up saving a lot of money in the end of if i just do it right the first time

but i think for now, if this $100 t-amp + $100 pre-amp works well, it is a no-brainer i think

what do you guys think?

amazon's delivery will arrive on wednesday

cant wait to go pick up the speakers from the friend

woohooo :)

oh by the way, have to add $30 to the build cost

since i just picked up an ASUS Xonar DX soundcard from amazon as well

(price error of $49 - $20 mail in rebate)
