hi everyone. i got my droid 3 a few months ago and i use my Ath-m50 with it on the go. the droid is my main portable music and i was wondering if i got an amp for the droid would it make a significant difference like big enough for a newbie to notice or would it just make a slight difference? if an amp would make a difference could you please suggest me an amp i should get. also the least expensive it is the better.

-thanks everyone and happy listening smily_headphones1.gif

To use an amp properly, you need to have a line-level output, straight from a DAC. (The Droid 3 only has a headphone output, which is already amped. Double amping is generally a bad idea.)

Add to that the problem of nicely attaching an amp to this phone (without impeding use of the screen or the ability to slide the keyboard out) .... and I think you're best off not worrying about using an amp with the D3.

I listen straight from the headphone out on my D3 with my Sennheiser HD 25-1 II, and find the performance quite reasonable.
