Interesting that it uses 9V  for charging. A little tedious to have to carry different chargers for the CLAS & RxIII.

I'm holding out for an MK3/CLAS all-in-one box solution.

Agreed, I am up for the all in one solution - CLAS/MK3. I was almost going to put an order in for the CLAS/Continental until I read this.

 

I will have to go look behind the couch for change now. It will have to be the full balanced solution - CLAS/MK3 with the LCD-3. Not sure yet about the cables to go with them but I will probably have a few months to make up my mind whilst I wait !

So I guess that the volume control on the MK3-B also turns it on and off?

The demo Mk3 at the Tokyo Headphone Festival last year, yes...the volume control knob was also the on/off switch. From ALO video yesterday, looks like they didn't change that part.

On/Off by volume control is okay. Stepdance also works that way.

 

I really want to know the output impedance of this amp (specifically in low gain mode if that makes any difference).

Hopefully Ken chimes in with an estimated release date - and hopefully it's not 3 months from now. I think this thing is gonna rock, already have the CLAS and JH16 with DH cables/interconnects, so when this goes live gonna place my order and have my termination changed to balanced! Can't wait :)

I am almost the same, rig wise. Just waitin for my whiplash twag and rewired DT1350 to arrive back from Qusp. They will be terminated to Hirose. Qusp has also made me two adapters to go from Hirose to RSA and Hirose to stereo mini. Can't wait to do a side by side comparison between the rx3 and the PB2 with Hiflight opamp kit. Happy days await. :-)

 

 

That's a long way from an 'all-in-one' solution - counting your iDevice, you will have 3 'boxes' and the cables needed to hook it all together. I haven't seen any comparisons between the CLAS DAC and the DX100, but the latter is a lot closer to an 'all-in-one', even if you choose to hook it up to the Rx3 or whatever. Form factor may not be ideal, granted, but if you are serious about this 'all-in-one' thing ......

 

3 boxes? That's why I'm holding out. iPhone and a Dac/amp box.

The dx100 is a 2 box solution as well. Either way I'm still carrying my iphone/smartphone, whether it's part of the chain or not.

How is the DX100 a two box solution?

 

 

Reread my post. The fact that I have to carry 2 devices, whether one is part of the chain or not, makes it a 2 box solution. Either way I'm stuck carrying 2 devices: smartphone and Dac/amp or smartphone and dx100. I'm not gaining more mobility as far as my pants pockets are concerned.
