Skylab. since you are taking requests for listening impressions, i have a kinda different one.

Please if you will, Buy a Harley Davidson full dresser, and try the LCD-3 out while riding.cool.gif

I need impressions at 50gs1000.gif .. 75 .. and of course at full speed around 125.basshead.gif

Please do both with and with out passenger and lower faring on and off.

I also need you to remove the stock handle bar mounted mirrors and replace them with the upper fairing mounted mirrors since I have found the handle mounted mirrors create a false sound stage above 100.

Also let me know if the classical sound stage effect is still narrow when cornering at highway speed.confused_face.gif

Do you think changing a tube could affect this?

Or do you think some sort of portable highway sound effect treatment might be more appropriate?

My Grados work but I am looking to upgrade soon, and I want to know if the Audeze would work under such conditions,

Also can you suggest a good portable amp that has been tested for vibration and weather proofing?

thanks in advance.biggrin.gif

PS sorry for your wallet if you accept my request.eek.gif

If you have the right amplifier, I must recommend the LCD-3. It is hard to get a HP that present better realism for 2K.

Or, similar...

Blah. Just give me the option to buy the LCD-3 now straight away.

It's the summary of 99.9% of the forthcoming reviews of all forthcoming flagships. biggrin.gif

The moment of truth always comes 3-6 months later... or when the next model appears.

audeze say that the rev.2 have a lighter diaphragm compared to the rev.1.

but some people still prefere the rev.1.

i believe that the lcd-3 is a better headphone when some head-fier will try the lcd-3 in your house with a very good amplifier.

at the rmaf the lcd-3 sound good connected to the liquid fire, balancing act, etc.

thank you!!!

how many people have at home have these amplifiers?

i listen the lcd-2 in my house with my amplifier.

after this, i go to the rmaf and listen the lcd-3 with the balancing act and i say: wow, beatiful sound.

in any case, i don´t doubt that the lcd-3 is superior compared to the lcd-2

Sorry for late response, I just saw this thread.  I first ordered the LCD3 before the impression came out

when it first came out somebody said that it's not worth it so I asked Drew to cancel the preorder.  Again when

I saw Skylab's comment I made my mind again and ordered.   Confusion still persisted and there were a lot of fight of opinion

going on. Then I saw the engraved 300B WE came along so I had to apologize Drew again.  I don't know how many of us

are  having the same difficulty of decision like me.  I have already owned LCD2 rev1 and 2 and is using them with the fully

balanced BA.   I also think that LCD3 for some people are better than the LCD2 as I once thought LCD2 rev 2 is better than rev1.

However after using the fully balanced BA and with the setup that Eaglejo recommended I am now using LCD2 rev1 much much

more than rev2.   The sound stage is the same with WE 300B original and using good 6SN7 , there is no treble rolled off much,

while the unique sweet enticing mid of rev1 is still there and better than the rev2 IMO.  The bass is also better with rev1 if you use

the good 6SN7's with good dynamic e.g. tungsol BGRP and Sylvania 6SN7W metal base.   I tried to tube rolling the rev2 to have

the sound that I want from rev 2 to be more similar but maintaining the good signature of rev2 but I can't.  I have used KenRad, National Union,

RCA black glass with less than satisfactory effect.  So I don't know how can one say that this phone is better than other,  I think we

have to consider the set up, amplifier and matching too.

That's one of the reason why I think I should wait until more has their opinion on LCD3 with good set us BA before I pull the trigger

and I  think it would be very embarassing for me to write to Drew for the fifth time and has to cancel that later.  Again from the impression

given I think that LCD3 should be better than LCD2 rev1 in several aspects but not that dramatic .  I truly think its mid will  have no chance to beat

the LCD2 rev1 sweet unique mid and huge soundstage using WE 300B original.  For the bass  it will depend what kind of bass each person like .

For me LCD2 rev1 has one of the best bass in the level of my modded HP1000/HP2 (the vixen modification)  , Smeggy Thunderpants,   Audiotechnica

L3000 with silver dragon cable, and the Symphones magnum V3.5 or the expected result of V4.   The Law of diminishing return may apply here because I don't

know how much LCD3 will gain over LCD2 rev1 with the hefty price increase.  I have already mentioned that LCD2 rev2 for me doesn't add anything substantial.

So please I would like to know the impression of LCD3 vs LCD2 rev1 with BA or other amplifier with adequate tube rolling and set up before I decide again.

Here's an early guessed summary of the review:

- The LCD.3 sound quite amazing. The bass is soo deep. The vocals are the HPs strongest point. The highs are there but not protruded. The comfort is like rev. 1 and rev. 2. The headband skin is provoking my thin haired head. The soundstage is better than rev. 1 and rev. 2. (This is because it plays a tad more "brigther" than rev. 1 / rev. 2).

If you have the right amplifier, I must recommend the LCD-3. It is hard to get a HP that present better realism for 2K

The SR-009 and the 007 .. blah ... blah ... HD800 ... blah ... LCD-2 ... blah ... Nice. :)

Or, similar...

I don't expect this kind of review or impression.  It is so hollow and does not give me more understanding of its performance

and what kind of music I should use it.   I may want more solid evidence ( of course not the frequency response cure) for me

to go to Drew for the fifth time.

- The LCD.3 sound quite amazing. The bass is soo deep. The vocals are the HPs strongest point. The highs are there but not protruded

I am reserving this for the LCD2 rev1 until it was dethroned by the LCD3 which in my heart I truly believe that it is not (at least for my heart and brain)

.If you have the right amplifier, I must recommend the LCD-3. It is hard to get a HP that present better realism for 2K.

Again for me this is for LCD2 rev1  but not the LCD-3 is the one, For LCD3  from I heard is easier to drive , someone even think that it

should be used as portable which I do not agree because the weight and comfort of the LCD comparing to the Grado or other phones.

I have tried using that and connecting the mini XLR 4pin from the LCD2 cable to the SR71B usually fell off because of it weight except

you make short cable which terminate directly to mini XLR 4pin.  Most of us will go the XLR 4 pin and then another adapter cable to miniXLR 4pin

or to 1/4" jack to make it more usable for other amplifier

Another comment I want to make is that choosing the right aftermarket cable is also important : I use Zeus silver clad cable for LCD2 rev1 which for

me is the better one than the Twag (which the bass became much less and did not open up the sound stage well enough.  for LCDrev 2 I use the apuresound V3 cable

because I think it's is too bright.   I don't know about LCD3  but I think I will use blue  dragron or apuresound.  My friend prefers SAA endorphine for LCD2 rev1 over

the Zeus.  Other cables not mentioned here are also good but not to the level that I want.

I do not doubt Skylab, but just for the heck of it. you might wan to get image verification. And again, no offense to Skylab but I would like to know that it is the LCD-3 and not some closed phones like the R10's that he is riding with!

Hillarious! biggrin.gif

Skylab please take your time. A lot of people don't have to make a decision until 11-11-11. The people who will "buy no matter what" have already preordered (e.g. googleli AKA Mr. Creamy)
