Can't Decide on a Setup - Page 2

As for the ported vs sealed, this is the info I learned from http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_5_2/cmilleressayporting.html , it says Ported speakers aren't accurate as sealed enclosure speakers because ports (and passive radiators) are resonant devices.

The krk 10s sub is pretty good, it is clean and tight and can go pretty loud, I think due to the way it's designed means it intracts less with the room so you get cleaner sounding bass, the Genelec 8020B sound pair with it well.

Monitors tend to have good of axis responce so they can still sound good even if not optimally placed.

Monitors don't have proper volume controls, so you will need a pre-amp , passive volume pot or mixer or something.

I think i'm getting closer to deciding. Right now I'm looking at the Rythmik Audio F12 sub paired with either PSB Imagine Minis or Genelec 8020Bs.

This post actually disproves that ported speakers are less accurate. They actually have lower distortion than sealed speakers of the same size. The whole point of the linked article here is to disprove these theories that have no basis in fact, not prove them. The first paragraph sayes that is the purpose. The information I gave is accurate & is proven by the linked article.

I skim read it and mistook all the bullet points for facts, when it appears the first set of bullet points were indeed common misconceptions.

I'm glad you see it now. At least you can admit you made a mistake which is good. Some people go through life never admitting to mistakes. Eventually it catches up with them because it is hard for them to keep friends as a result. I know some people like that where I live.

The PSB's require an outside amp which will take up some room. The genelec seem to be a better option for the limited space as no seperate amp is needed.

What would be a good receiver to pair with either the PSBs or Genelecs?

I went with the PSB Minis and an Onkyo TX-8050 receiver, along with a Rythmik Audio F12 subwoofer. Way over my original budget but I won't be upgrading any time soon. I haven't got the subwoofer yet due to a shortage on amps, but I should receive it late this week. Right now I am having problems with slight crackling and popping with the speakers even at low volume. What can I do to fix this?

Update: The problem has something to do with music playing through an iPhone. When I use a usb stick to play the same files, it plays perfectly.

Update 2: Restored my iPhone and now it works perfectly
