I'm at the UM table now listening to Merlins and the Miracle.

The Merlin was a nice listen fun bass and good tone but lacked layering and accuracy to my ears. I can absolutely see why people like this sound. The Miracle was better all around to me with less bass quantity but better defined bass. Tonally I found these very good and a step up from the Merlins. They also had better detail retrieval and head stage.

Overall nice gear

Funky looking... not my cup of tea.

Bet it sounds insane though.

Woo Audio is insane with a table full of tube goodness, rocking out to AC/DC on the LCD2 and the WA5-le. Seriously a great experience, but I'm headed to the WES amp hear the same track on the Stax SR-009. The LCDs hit harder with more grunt and authority but the SR-009 let's you hear everything.

Switching to jazz the SR-009 was spectacular , Take 5 from Brubeck was killer

Moving to the new mono blocks running 45 tubes and the Senn 800s was a trip. The amp is very cool and is a speaker and headphone amp. The way he was implemented the switch between 45/2a3 and 300b is very elegant.

Tried the LCD2 first time today and I don't understand the weight comments at all. They feel quite average on the head. Not super light, not heavy. I could wear them for hours and not feel a thing.

That's a great summary that agrees with my impressions even with the 009s on a lesser system. The 009s + high-quality re-mastered jazz and classical = serious win. Thanks for posting impressions. beerchug.gif

AWESOME!!!!!!!

First impression of the LCD3 is they are a major step forward and I loved the LCD2 .
more even frequency response and they have a better top end. They remind me of a great reference studio monitor with great tone.

Jp you need to hear them on Ray's Darkstar. I really didn't care for them on the Pinnacle. I honestly preferred the HD800 on the Peak more than the LCD2 on the Pinnacle and i'm no fan of the HD800. Also Ray is getting a new pair of HE6 to put on the Darkstar and he says they are even better than the LCD2 and HE500 on it and they both are fricken fantastic in that combo.

For the same money and much less space, the Peak gets the nod for me.
