V-Dac and the V-Dac MK2

Thread Starter

I am thinking about getting the V-Dac or V-DacMK2 to go with my V-CAN amp and computer rig. My question and concerns are: If I get the V-DACMK2 the asynchronous USB samples at 24/96. But if I go with the older V-DAC and the V-link then my end result will be 24/192?

I say this because the V-link samples at the same rate as the V-DACMK2 (24bit/96KHZ) but......the toslink output going into the older V-DAC will again up sample to 24bit 192khz. So with the price drop of the V-link ($119.00) and original V-DAC ($249.00) puts the combo around the same price as the new V-DACmk2 with lower bit rate using USB. Would you guy's agree with me?

The USB input is 24/96, but it sounds like the Mk II up-samples to 192 as well...

You can also still use the Optical with the Mk II... I don't know what computer you are using as source, but that might be relevant.
