Good AMP/DAC for HD650

I need another good AMP and DAC for the HD650's besides Fiio E7/E9 combo.

I have had really bad luck with those.

My first combo, It accidentally fell and broke, within my first week. Had to buy a second one.

My second combo, in fear of me accidentally breaking it, I was not going to open it till I got home. Got stolen, did not even use it once.

I have decided to extend my budget to around ~$400-500.

Wow, thats what i call bad luck.

I assume your source is a pc? you can consider the asus xonar essence stx, the dac on it is pretty decent. You can add a dedicated headamp after.

Or you can buy a Dac/amp one box solution.

For that price range, you can probably get a Little Dot DAC_1 and Little Dot MKIII, which a lot of people really like with the HD650. I use that combo myself and have been quite happy.

I'll have a look at them.

Are the little dots, in comparison, better than the e7/e9?

It really is all just personal opinion...I have actually not heard the Little Dots but I have heard a lot of good things about them so thats why I was agreeing with that guy. There are a lot of options out there so I would just keep reading in the forums.

What about Little Dot MK V and the DAC I

In that price range for those headphones, Yulong D100 and CEntrance DACport are both solid products. They're both guaranteed to be neutral. Little Dot stuff is a mystery.

The LA-200 is a extremely good combo with my HD580probably even better with the HD650. Please read review

Ok, I think I am considering some of the Little Dot line.

Which is the best for the 650's? MK V? MK III? MK II?

Also, which DAC?

I will be using lossless files in iTunes from my computer as my source.

And (if possible and compatible) my iPad or iPod.

Classic rock; pink floyd, led zep, aerosmith, u2, etc. mainly

If the DACport can produce 1/4 of the sound of the DACmini, then I say go for it!

Which one of these:

MK V with DAC_I or II

or

MK IV with DAC_I or II

Or... MKs I II & III with DAC I & II

Help anyone?

I need to order them no later than tomorrow or they won't arrive on time.

go for it

there's only one way to find out if this setup is right for you and that's by trying it yourself.

Welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet and prepare to jump in sometimes with a blindfold on.
