Putting music on a Cowon C2 - Solved

Well I wanted to check out the famous Cowon sound and bought a Cowon C2.

Very nice little player, the UI is not as bad as many of the reviews state.

*I have no problems putting music onto my 16gb SD Card, and renaming album covers as cover.jpg.

::*My problems are with adding music to the Cowons internal memory.

*I have these files in the Cowon internal memory.

audible/documents/flash/manual/music/pictures/podcast/recordiings/system/video/win98

*I am dragging and dropping FLAC into the music folder, same as the SD card.

But no music shows up it seems-in the cowon onboard internal memory.

Using a Macbook by the way.

Any ideas?

Thanks.

A lil` help anyone?

I have a J3 (and no Apple products) and there seems to be a known dis-like between Apple computers and Cowon players -- I don't know the specifics but something to do with hidden files Apples tend to move with music files that the Cowon does not like / can't handle.

Hi, just been looking around concerning your problem. Maybe a long shot but I noticed the update firmware V1.11 fixes this problem - "Fixed the error that library in browser was not updated after copying files into the internal memory when MicroSD card was inserted in the device" My new C2, which I received just 2 days ago is still on firmware 1.02. SO, maybe you can update if not already done, just an idea. By the way, I posted that my c2 volume was pretty poor, do you have any issue with the volume of your player ( non-european location)

Thanks for the replies.

kmhaynes:yeah, i have read about the hidden files via Mac thing.

ccw71: I updated to 1.11 as soon as I got the cowon c2 home.

I think the volume is fairly low, but on a par with my iPod touch. I set it to non european. Usually listening around 38 with my ATH-ESW9, going to try it with my triple fi-10 today.

This is interesting though-

"Fixed the error that library in browser was not updated after copying files into the internal memory when MicroSD card was inserted in the device"

I wil try adding music without the SD card in, update the Cowon and see if music shows up, then re-add the SD card.

EDIT* Tried it, it worked!

Thank you!

-so it seems the fix is to remove the SD card, add the music in, then disconnect, update the players new added files (under settings>system), then add the SD card back in, update again.
