The $1995 price is interesting because it puts them above the other dynamic flagships straight into higher-end STAX territory. At that price-point, I do expect to see some MAJOR improvements.

Yup, me too. At this price point, I fully expect them to cleanly beat the 007s and hopefully match/beat? the 009s, Orpheus, R10s, etc. If they do manage to get into the 009, etc. range, I would consider them a bargain at $1945

So you closed the 17 page thread in stead of this one? :p

This one probably has less useless comments

At that price point, I am expecting these to be the best there ever has been. If they produce something that is hands down the best of the best, it will be worth it in my opinion, otherwise it will be disappointing and discouraging tale of diminishing returns and price inflation.

The other thread was an impressions thread with no impressions. One starts such a thread when one has said headphones in one's possession, not when one wants to be the first poster. o2smile.gif

waiting for impressions.

Hoping they sound awesome but I have a hard time believing they'll be a top option in thier price range.  Have yet to hear an ortho that doesn't sound more closed than open and I personally don't care for a closed HP sound.

I'm wondering if they will be selling some at canjam, maybe not too late to buy a flight ticket :)

Are the 007's not costing 2000$ too? If then I can not see why the LCD3 should beat them.

I will make every effort to post some actual impressions tonight. I am on the way to RMAF/CanJam now, and I plan to make the Audeze booth my very first stop now, or close to it.

That said, everyone should take my comments in context, which is that I personally find the LCD-2 to be the very finest headphone I have heard aside from the Sony R-10. What I will really try to ascertain is what kind of step up they are over the LCD-2, although under show conditions (high background noise levels, unfamiliar equipment, etc.) this may not be easy.

I seriously doubt that these will constitute a massive improvement over the LCD-2 -- I'd expect 5-10% at most.  I guess I'll find out in Denver soon enough...

I kind of wish that Audez'e had moved in the other direction -- introducing a lower-priced headphone with trickled-down LCD-2 technology for maybe about $500.  I would've been very interested in that.  The price of the new LCD-3 puts it squarely out of the price range I'd be willing to spend, especially when you consider that it will probably have all the same ergonomic issues that plagued the LCD-2.

Screw this upgrade desire I have with a stick the size of the QEII.

Is preorder open yet? I really want to be among the first batch getting one of those shipped out on 11-11-11.

The irony of big audio festivals and large head-fi meets.

The whole point is to evaluate new and difficult to source gear and yet the ambient noise is what gets in the way

of that very pursuit! smile_phones.gif
