New Audeze LCD3 - Page 465

A box? Pft.

 

Travel case looks cumbersome and I use my headphone boxes as their normal resting place when not on my head. They sit on my desk so travel case is probably not ideal. The HD800 box is just about perfect, the Audeze box looks to be similar.

If the case is the same as the one I got with the LCD3 its quite nice and I use it to store them in-between sessions.

 

Ooops, I should clarify that I mean the wood box.......

Anyone have the Silver Dragon Cables from Moon Audio for the LCDs? How do they sound?

I loved my SDv3 with the HD650 back in the day... didn't like it with the LCD-2, never had it for the LCD-3.

I have the silver dragon with my lcd3s and love it and swear by it. I tried some others but like the SDs the best. They really control the bass nicely and make everything more solid with no ringing.

The cable just lets me breathe better. It's also my favorite cable on the HE500s. It's expensive but really worth it for me.

I felt it subdued the bass.  Controlling to the point of thinning it out and added some grain to my LCD-2.  Even since I've been a Q man.  That the Q is like string doesn't hurt ;)

Q is great too. Solude is correct here, but, the Audeze bass can be a trifle blubby (just barely so on the LCD3, and it depends on the amp of course, tube vs. solid state, type of tube, yada yada yada),

and I love the way the silver dragon cleans all that up, even if it's a little less prominent. It does not make the Audeze bass light at all, but more goldilocks just right to me. A matter of taste I guess.

Yeah, the Q is so light you feel like you have a wireless headphone (very nice).

Both the Q and Moon cable (even the black dragons I tried) are way better than the stock cable, which is kind of "nervous" in comparison.

I am a bit of a basshead.  Probably from years of drumming and playing the bass guitar.  Me and the HD800 simply will never get along for this reason :p

I have the same issue with my HD800s.

Just wondering are there different versions of the LCD-3s like the LCD-2 rev1/2/3? Just heard the LCD-3 at a shop today, it sounded amazing, like my LCD-2 rev 2 but with more definition and clarify. I was told the demo version is one of the earliest versions, I wonder if the newer versions sounded any different to the earlier ones.

As of early last year I think they have been very consistent out of the factory. I believe they are just a hair brighter, but with the same detail etc. A few people do like the original better. It doesn't sound like there is a big difference in sound quality, assuming you didn't get one of the poorly tuned pairs. Most of the inconsistencies reported are likely due to the selection of amp, IMHO.

You'd surely like a new pair is what I'm saying.

Thank you so much for the info, the only problem is that the shop only has the earlier versions of the LCD-3, have to decide now whether to get one from there now or order one from Adeze.

What does that even mean exactly. Just order from Audeze w/no regrets.
