New Audeze LCD3 - Page 26

Rumor: Audeze put HE-6 in a wooden case. That's how they make the LCD 3.

Just kidding ... :-) But between my LCD 2 and HE-6, the HE-6 is the benchmark to beat (HE-6 on a $6k speaker amp vs. LCD-2 on a $20k headphone rig).

Looking forward to how well the LCD 3 will live up to the hype.

“A completely re-designed planar transducer with the all-new LOTUS diaphragm.”

I would sure like to hear some elaboration regarding this re-design, as well what LOTUS means, is it an acronym for something or what.

As far as the new cable connectors go they do look nice, but I am not a fan of the more extreme forward angle as my LCD-2 amplifier is situated behind me.

Don't know which thread to post in lol.

Damn this thread... Last time I checked my wallet:

On a serious note, I'm really looking forward to the LCD-3 reviews conducted by Head-Fi's "big names". Also wonder if LCD-3 could threaten the reign of the "KING", SONY R-10.

Unlike electrostats, there are two planar magnetic HP manufacturers, Audeze and HiFiMan. Competition is always good. biggrin.gif

^^ yup thats what am looking forward Rob's review/ impressions.

i dont want LCD3 v/s LCD2 comparison , cause if its audez'e sound then its going to be like , better xxx, better yyy ...and so on .

what i would like to know is how they compare against R10, Stax-007 MK1/mk2 .

will leave the HE90 / SR009 for the next audez'e flagship, coming in 2-3 years  ( which is supposed to be priced even more) as its not practical to compare. ( i understand some can like even the LCD 2 over both , but that's just preference)

the next audez's comment based on the post from canjam@RMAF 2011 thread

I'm pretty green when it comes to reviewing these things but here's some thoughts - take them with a grain of salt:

1. They appear to be almost the size and weight as the LCD-2

2. They are, in fact, roughly twice the price

3. According to Audeze - there will probably be yet another new flagship phone in about a year or 2 (so you've been warned).  The Audeze guy said that there were "things I know we can do better, it just depends on how long it will take to make the changes."

4. They only had the LCD-3s out for demo, so they're pushing them.  They said they were still going to make the 2 rev.2, but the Jam was all about the 3.

5. Regarding sonics and musicality, that's probably better left to an owner of the LCD-2s.  I've heard the 2's, but not enough to get a feeling that these were much different.  At least to my nubile ears, there was not $1000 difference.

6. Regarding the use of the Zebrawood - According to Audeze, "it was cool looking."  Nothing about sonics here.  The pictures online are probably pretty close to the look and feel - maybe just a hint light, but pretty close.

My one-cent.

Unless of course, they are both owned by the same company wink.gif

No need to wait for another model to match or exceed the SR009, the HE90, yes, but only barely. As I posted in the RMAF thread the LCD3 with the right amp meets or exceeds the SR009 already.

thats what i said , some might prefer the LCD3 over the SR009/he90, but taht does not mean they are better overall.

its the same way, as some people here like LCD much more than SR007, hands down , but from what i have heard from the LCD2 , the imaging was not up to the mark. ( very good , but not all over the place , like i have read about the SR007 )

also,.. only time will tell , they are not even launched yet .

You guys are putting way too much faith into others (and in some cases, your own) impressions of headphones at a speaker show.  I'd wait until legitimate impressions start rolling in during the next couple of months before loading up the hype train again.  I'm very interested in hearing this headphone and hopefully will get some nice quiet time with a set in the not too distant future. :)

Quite an insult, honestly. I'll remember to ignore your impressions as well. These are impressions, not a full fledged review.

I don't get what's insulting about that.  Your impressions seem to be trying to come across as definitive which is normally seen in 'full fledged reviews'.  I guess I'm confused.

Three.  Fostex.

The T50 is the underpriced "diamond in the rough" for those willing to venture down the fickle path of mod-dom...

Illegitimate impressions. Your impressions are legitimate, but mine aren't?

They don't really create any competition though.  For the audiophile market, the T50 is only half a headphone.  I'm not even sure the people at Fostex know what kind of potential their own driver has, though the other new planars are probably giving them some nasty ideas.  But as great as a modded T50rp might be it can't be compared to the other planars because everyone does the mods differently.  The Thunderpants or some other standard mod is really the only modded T50rp that can be compared or reviewed in a meaningful way IMO.
