Quite right.
MH, I don't follow, and I think that's downplaying it. Using your analogy, the average consumer car would be about $15K for a four door sedan. That makes the BMW maybe 3x the cost. I would venture that the LCD-3 is 15x-20x the cost of the average consumer headphone at the high price of $100 per headphone. So not that this analogy makes sense, but if we did bother to apply it, then it would be more comparable to a Ferrari or Buggati, or something similar.
The point is, it is unusual and a little alarming. But they have their act together it seems, recognizing that fact with their press release and all. I feel bad for the LCD-3 buyers.
? Not downplaying at all...it totally sucks. But today I happened to drive my friend for the third time to a BMW dealership to take care of his car (its only 2 months old). Just because something is expensive, doesn't mean it's bulletproof.
Hopefully Audeze gets a handle of these issues soon. I've had my LCD-3s since day 1, without issue. Looks like subsequent batches have had issues. But I'm pretty confident that Audeze will get it under control like they did with the LCD-2s. Unfortunately they had to go through the whole rigamarole twice.
I remember BMW selling their taxis (318i -- they are used as taxis in Germany) with manual windows in Australia for $50k. The doors didn't shut properly on my neighbour's one. You could buy a Subaru for $30k that was better in every respect with far more options. Merc went through a similar period.
Anyhow, I had an email exchange about my own pair, which has been with them since December. I feel pity for them, since it must be a nightmare when an issue refuses to go away, but they have assured me that it is, finally fixed. I just honestly hope it is and we can go back to arguing about which brand of toilet paper works best in them, or whatever.

They were cool, though and received my $100 in shipping cost back at least.
