You only qualify for the discount if you have not participated in any threads here on Head-Fi that eventually complained about the price of the LCD-3.  very_evil_smiley.gif

Damn. Guess I'm out.

Now wonder if Hifiman had their HE-7 ready for the competition and jump on the $2000 flagship bandwagon...

OT: I'm becoming more and more conflicted every day about how I want to continue my set up. For awhile I've been set on a Phonitor to pair with whatever headphone I ended up with. As of now I saw that being the LCD 2 Rev 2 I recently received...but with the LCD 3 on the table, and my growing curiosity of STAX I just don't know what to do.

I could get my Phonitor as planned and eventually upgrade my LCD 2 to the LCD 3...or I could use the Phonitor money to get myself a nice 007mk2 rig (selling the LCD 2, of course).

I just don't know what I want from headphones beyond my current set up. New additions like the LCD 3 just make it harder. ;~;

i can see people buying the LCD3, many people here. a lot more than stax SR007 + SR009 owners here.

Great thing ( but kind of sad, from stax prospective )

You *just* got your LCD2s enjoy them for countless hours before letting upgrade-itus rear its head again.

I blame Audeze...I was so set on what I wanted and they've made me think again. Lol

It won't be for at least a few months. I'll settle down once my 10SE gets here. Not being able to use my LCD 2 at my desk is bugging me.

I think the reason Stax aren't more wide spread is because they're a bigger investment all at once. You can build a rig with dynamics or orthos because you can use them on so much...receivers, any amp, etc. But Stax can't really be built around. When you buy the amp it's useless without the cans and vice versa. Can't build piece by piece.

That's why I've been intimidated by them at least.

I joined in 2008. Up until then I had been more than happy with a 2Gig Sony MP3 player with stock noise cancelling headphones. The phones broke so I thought I would search on line for a replacement pair.. Google came up with here and 3 years later I have spent nearly $3,500 because of this forum!!blink.gif
I think they turned out to be the most expensive set of in ear headphones ever!
