because when you're the new-comer you don't have to be as good as, you have to be better than.

Dunno, it's probably more of a stalker thing. tongue.gif

I'm still on the fence on the LCD-3. I preferred the O2 over the LCD-2, I wonder if I will prefer the 009 over the LCD-3. Grrr and then there's the comfort issue. frown.gif

I found some information on LCD-3 on the Audez'e website (https://audeze.com/reality-1-lcd-3-ether-1).  I think someone mentioned it before (Sorry for the duplicate).

I am dying for more information/reviews about LCD-3.  Anyone seen it at the CANJAM?

An uncomfortable $2000 headphone claiming to be built with the goal of being the best sounding headphone should stomp a $5000 headphone claiming to be MORE THINLY!. tongue.gif

Except for the bad joke of the headphone world, the LCD-3 is priced above everything except the SR-009 and the decade old SR-007. If the LCD-3 doesn't stomp the SR-009, then you can bet your lucky burning balls of gas that future high end 'flagships' will creep up at the SR-009's price point, in their attempts to claim the throne.

The amping costs are actually more or less comparable between a balanced dynamic amp and a stat amp IF you know which end of a soldering iron to hold. No point in comparing the value of the commercial stat amps since they are doomed by their low production numbers.

You're forgetting the Sony R-10, Qualia, ED10, ED8, PS1000, Orpheus, L3000, etc.  Not to mention Sennheiser's upcoming uber high end, if my sources were correct.

Current dilemma for me is should I redirecting my camera fund to try out the LCD-2 or continue saving for the never to be released d800

*Anxiously waiting for initial impressions!*

Is too much cash for me now, so I guess I will stick with LCD-2 rev2.

But, of course, waiting for the reviews!

Be honest, if you have good glass are you really being held back by the camera body? tongue.gif

Wait.... what? And here I was thinking the T1, HD800, and LCD2 will be the only flagships for a decade.

If this LCD3 actually has any kind of soundstage more than my closed headphones, they might be on to something, but how come people that never heard the 009 are saying the LCD3 should beat the 009?

A little apples and oranges there considering most of those have to be pried from the hands of dead bodies. tongue.gif

Who knows, maybe the insanity is coming back, and that's not all that bad.

I will be surprised if the $2000 LCD3 can come close to the 009. In my opinion the 009's mids and treble is in another league when compared with the LCD2 - again not five times better, but clearly better. As I said, the diminishing return will kick in, and I suspect the LCD2 will probably remain the king of bang-for-the-buck headphones - but I am truly interested to hear what the LCD3 is going to achieve. Given that LCD2 was so much bang for the buck, I won't mind losing out a few extra dollars for the LCD3 to even out, as a token of appreciation to Audeze and a belated salute to the LCD2. It is all good to be content with the LCD2, as I currently am, but we should at least wait for the big guys' (Jude, Skylab, Ttyl) reviews to come out before jumping to the conclusion that Audeze is suddenly turning from the head-fi game changer / savior to a greedy monster.

I am not happy knowing that there is a more expensive  headphone to put on the upgrade list for next year.

To me, that's all it is. Granted the LCD-3 will probably take the top spot on the list, that's all it is for me as of now.

Still trying to justify that whole upgrade list for next year anyways.  The money we're talking about for something

that does need perfected but is still just a headphone seems outrageous and while people on this website could

justify as much as they want, we're part of this hobby.  Even if i was fourty years old and my parents thought i was

an amazing person capable of doing anything and has done everything within reach, i'm pretty sure those same

proud parents would disown me if i told them i bought a $2000 pair of headphones.

Same with a headphone amplifier. I can buy a decent home theater receiver for $250 dollars.  That same receiver

has so many capabilities that it is outrageous.  Then add an internal headphone amplifier and discrete 5.1 or 7.1 amplifiers

and you've got a great bang for your buck.  With the headphone amplifier, you get,......a headphone amplifier.

Just throwing my two cents in.

I am happy to see that Audeze has been able to make a headphone that they consider 2x the headphone that the lcd-2

is (probably not x 2 just saying because of the price.)

This headphone will hopefully change the game.  It will become the pride and joy of this website though no doubt.

I look forward to seeing how the lcd-3 has improved over the lcd-2 but more than anything

I AM TRULY WAITING TO SEE WHAT THIS HEADPHONE CAN'T DO.

Once this headphone is released, it will see the wrath of some of the smartest people and dumbest people i have had the chance to interact with

on this website.  For Audez'e's sake, i hope you did it right.

P.s.  Audez'e if you're reading this, it's probably to late but this whole lcd-3 thing has really brought a lot of the owners out of dwelling and it is

giving a lot of people who don't own an lcd-2 the opportunity to see how many people are complaining about the comfort.  I'm really considering

just saying screw it and not worrying about buying something so expensive as it seems very unpractical.

(for anyone reading this, don't yell at me saying that if you haven't felt one then don't run you're mouth.  As a potential customer, i am only going

by what i'm reading, so while you might not have a problem, obviously other people do, and it has caused me to seriously reconsider buying

an Audez'e headphone)
