Hahaha now that I know that they have 3.5mm plug!

Also am liking the Shure extension cable for my FX700. Was worried it would be nickel which it clearly was on the adds picture but its gold platted. Could have saved $15.00 if I just went with my instincts the first time... rolleyes.gif

Glad that you like the Grado cable =)

Did you experience any drop in SQ when you use the Shure extension cable? The last time I had an audio technica 1.5m extension cable on my ESW10 the SQ just took a plummet.

It doesn't appear to be that way with the Shure cable. with the stock JVC extension cable (way to long and flimsy IMO!) there is a hit in sound quality. It adds impedance and kills the sound somewhat.

Thanks for the info all.

I think Epiphany would be better for me: no taxes and I'd probably have it even sooner since everything seems to stay in customs for a month anyway here lately.

Indeed, those Grado adapters are the best. It's the only kind I dare put into something plastic like my SB Recon 3D.

Indeed. Lol.

Now, you'll need to go through the same sort of trouble I went through searching for a RCA to 3.5mm interconnect. Lol.

What's you opinionion on the Dacport overall? Good amp section?

I found the DACport surprisingly powerful, with the W3000ANVs i hardly reach 1/4 of max, however, it is quite transparent so if your one of those ATH+tube fans look elsewhere.

So far the only real quibble i have with it is the fact that it only accepts USBl. If you're using it for the W3000ANV only you may want to read up on the 1-ohm mod they provide.

1 Ohm mod? By Centrance themselves?

Sounds interesting but half of their site seems down at the moment.

That Yamamoto's DAC looks very nice. Simple looking, classy. Volume knob would look better if the tone matched with the side panels though. Anyway, wasn't aware of that one. New release it seems. Sound Box Y-1-E looks cool too. xD

Yes CEntrance offers this at a fee of course. If you opt for the DACport LX and hook it to an external amp you'll have better sound and won't have to opt for the mod to begin with. I'd say you could get an O2 amp for the price CEntrance will charge you to just do the mod.

Oww, expensive mod for a device that doesn't cost all that much.

What price do they actually ask for the mod and what is the mod exactly. Some kind of resistor they build in?

And does it improve the sound or does it get worse like wihen using resistors?

Of course, an external amp could be better but there's also the (trans)portability of that setup that matters to me.

I don't know the amp's topology so I don't know exactly what they change, but the point is to lower the output impedance.  Stock its 10 ohms and the mod reduces it to 1.  Usually with normal dynamic drivers the lower output the impedance the bass will be tighter and the FR will be more linear.  Also what's important is the ratio between the headphone's impedance and the amp's output impedance so 10 ohms wouldn't be much of an issue with something like the HD800 but might be noticeable with the W3000ANV.

The output impedance should be roughly less than 1/8 of the headphone impedance as a general rule. In the case of W3000 the output impedance is preferable less than 5 Ohms (40/8).

This might seem like a silly question but how do you the number of your w3000anv?

I can not find it anywhere.

It should be located on the housing above the left driver (above the left ear pad)

Thank you!

Serial number 1367 reporting in!

Do you know if the m50s/LE has a serial number?
