Post your Serial No. ! wink.gif

Is the fit really so bad on these? I was on the verge of making a purchase but comfort is high on my list with cans and from what I've been reading here I may have to look at an alternative. Which is a shame, as they look superb. May have to look at the HD800's again.

Ordered at 11 pm on Thursday, Feb. 9th. Received at 10 am on Tuesday, Feb. 14th. Less than 5 days from Japan... not bad at all!

It depends. If you head is absolutely perfect like mine then every AT phone should be a delight to wear.

Worst case scenario is that you have a head like Otus then you will need to use brute force and bend these babies headband. biggrin.gif

Sorry Otus, no harm meant, just couldn't resist. beerchug.gif

Or just in the very unlikely case my head isn't all that perfect, then you'd need a very peculiar head to find these comfortable.

By the way, the HD800 sound totally different from the W3000, you won't get the sound that everyone describes here.

The HD800 is a damn good phone as well but I have to admit I haven't been using them much since I got the W3000. And I don't think it's a "new toy is always better" scenario. the W3000 probably isn't even better than the HD800, it's just a lot more enjoyable.

This is my very first AT headphone, and the headband system is completely alien to me. When I very carefully position them on my head, they feel and sound great. But they sit very high on my head and have little to no tension, so the slightest movement shifts them on my head and changes the sound.

They should be very comfortable -- lightweight, well-distributed, etc. -- but I'm too new to the mysteries of the AT headband to know for sure.

I can easily do some headbobbing without them shifting.

Playing air guitar is out of the question though. ;)

Mine clamped on my head like a vise, especially at the bottom.  I played around gently with the band, a little at a time, until I got a comfortable fit.

Mine are #206, but I'd pay extra for 1701!

So you had to bend them outwards?

Yes, from about an inch or two above where the band connects to the pieces above the cups.  It took a while and I overdid it a bit at one point, but it bent back to a good position no problem.

Ah, so not in the middle of the band on top of it.

Anyway, I think I'm correct to say that's a first here.

But if it elimintes the problem for you I don't see why not.

I guess we could start calling the AT's "highly configurable for a custom head fit".  ;)

Edit: that would be a custom fit for one's head, not a fit for one's custom head. Nevermind ...
