Simple question: I'm currently turning wood to make my own headphone cups but I'm not sure how to make identical shapes, short of using a CNC lathe. For those of you with turning experience, how do you match the shape of one object to the other without using a duplicator?

Make yourself a full size template for the profile you wish to turn. High quaility 1/8" plywood works well. Work the wood gradually until it conforms to the template. Cut small amounts of wood between frequent comparisons to the template. Depending on your skill with the lathe, you may want to make the final shaping with files or sandpaper.Be prepared to screw up a couple of blanks in the process.
