Hmm, I should be done with school by then, maybe I'll go.
It's basically just a train ride from home, but going to New York City alone scares me. Coming from a nice suburb, NYC as a whole is quite dirty. Maybe I can get my brother in Hoboken to go with me, since he probably knows the city well enough by now (at least the bars).

LOL, not the whole city is filthy, just certain parts look wretchedly old...like Chinatown and around javits center, there's many more of course, the worst thing is the traffic of course.

if coming from out of town it would be wise to make hotel reservations early. The Hilton would be the ideal since the show is located there, rooms are $230 for a double.

Ouch, that per day? Is there some discount if you're attending the show?

Hey, I'd do it... that is, if jude ever gets around to letting us put custom titles or quotes on the back, hint hint.

Yup, i actually think it would be a neat idea, i wonder if some of the moderators, like Jude, will try to come to the show. It would kick butt to meet some of the headfiers.

Hey KR, have no fear, i can delete pics of the mini cd's just like people can with their flash sticks.

Oh ok, Then I'll say hi

This is a real audiophile show, complete with true old school audiophile snobs, so unless you want to get dirty looks, I wouldn't bring in portables or non-high-end headphones, or non-audiophile CDs for that matter.

WTF?! Snobs...fifth avenue trash if ya ask me.

Hell with that, Metallica: Metallica is a definite! With a bunch from different genres, I really am dying to try some expensive cans and amps! And my 25S is taking the trip too!

I have just made it my personal mission to sneak a j-pop CD onto an electrostatic or ribbon speaker setup... MUAHAHA! Naturally, this mission will have to wait until the very last minute I'm there.

Make sure whichever one you bring has lots of synth in it!

I work only 2 blocks away from the Hilton, so I'm going to make the long trip to be there. I will be the one wearing the Burger King crown on my head.

I may even subject myself to the evil pleasantness of the etymonic lady again!

Oh, and everyone BRING YOUR CAMERAS!
Last year we got great footage of a man stealing expensive phono cartridges "I thought they were free", who was then tackled and forceably subdued by vendors until the police arrived. I think they tied him up with expensive speakerwire, he screamed in pain the entire time. --- Only in New York.

You guys are nuts! LOL!!!

It's it's about 5 months from now, so I would take it easy, and I am sure we we get a big list of names from Head-fiers who will be there by then, that way we will know who to avoid

Yeah, true high end audio show .The speakers my wife was intersted in last year went for $5,000,the amps another $7,000
My favorite home theater set up went for $27,000
This is a "showcase" of what is considered to be the best in audio and you owe it to yourself to attend.
Plus there will be experts from various fields having lectures AND there will be free concerts if like last year.
And let me tell ya,the Headroom crew are NOT snobs and are worth the trip alone. They had the most inviting room there bar none
And last year I DID bring a portable, plus my own CDs and my Grado cans. The only way I could judge what I liked was to plug in my own set of headphones and some gave me a "look" but SO?

Two things to check....

I won't be going to NYC in time for the show, but I would like to point you to two things worth checking out:

Margules Audio: True High End, hailing from Mexico: http://www.margules.com.mx/. Check them out, every time they are in New York they atract a lot of attention.

Cyberia bar: It's located in Broadway's subway station. A small place, located in a former secret HQ of the communists in America. Full or paraphernalia. Last time I went was 1997, so maybe the place has changed somehow. I miss it a lot.
