Xonar STX....What Next - DAC?!

Hello. I currently have an Xonar STX. I have been wondering, what should I upgrade to. I know the STX isnt amazing but its purpose was to power cans with higher impedance. But having recently bought a FIIO E11 I find it makes a noticable difference in quality. Which got me thinking - Should I buy a DAC, maybe a cheap FIIO one or something a bit more special. Dont want to spend more than £100  but will stretch a little.

 

Do I keep the STX to use in conjunction with a DAC or Desktop AMP or do I sell the STX and buy a DAC/Desktop AMP.

Well, i guess the STX is already serving as a DAC, so if you buy one dedicated DAC, the Xonar will be almost obsolete.

Who told you there was anything wrong with the DAC in the Essence? From all the measurement's I've seen it's of the highest calibre and unbeatable objectively at its pricepoint.

Keep the STX (and use it as a DAC because it is very good) and buy a desktop amp, something like the Schiit Asgard maybe?
