Hello!
I live in a small room inside a suite, so I thought it was appropriate that the equipment I have is closer to Computer Audio than Home Theater.
Would these setups be adequate?
Equipment:
Television (3.5mm audio out)
Asus Xonar Essence STX
Dayton SUB-100 125 Watt Active Subwoofer
Swans D1080MKII 08
Desktop connection:
Soundcard RCA out -> low level line in Subwoofer
Subwoofer low level line out -> Speaker inputs.
This is where I am most hesistant...
Television connection:
TV audio out -> 3.5mm splitter to RCA low level line in Subwoofer
Subwoofer low level line out -> Speaker inputs.
The subwoofer and speakers are both internally amplified but this setup still gives me some concern, just because of the lack of preamp and amp.
Another question, can the Swans be used as mid-field speakers, about 6-10ft away, with a subwoofer?
