Finding untagged mp3 files(with no ID3 metadata)

I have several files with no ID3 metadata so last.fm won't scrobble them.

How do I find these files? Am using foobar2k and searching for them yielded no results.

If you know the artist and can guess the song title (if you don't know it), I'm sure google can give you appropriate metadata. Amazon has lots of album lists too.

If you're looking at something to update these automatically, well, there's probably a reason it can't find the album. wink.gif Downloaded stuff often has that issue.

I mean I need something to list the files with no metadata.

I will be able to update them manually, just need to find the files that have no metadata.

If there is no meta data e.g. the "album" or "artist" is missing I expect a blank entry in the media player.

So sort on e.g. "album" and you will find the fields not populated.

Can't seem to do that on fb2k, all it does is display those with metadata.

Is there any search syntax for foobar2k to find untagged files?

If you have foobar's library directories configured, try Library > Album List

Then use the Library Viewer Selection playlist (preferences>media library) and sort by artist/album, it should appear as ? - ?.

It works for me, hope this helps.

This is correct. If there is no data, foobar will have a blank spot or question mark there.
