This is a fantastic combination. When I first put the Audeze on  I thought I'd done the wrong thing in spending so much more money. Then I put the HD650 back on and realised what they lacked compared to the Audeze. My ears adjusted to the HD650 after a while and they sounded great again but the Audeze are just so much more revealing and the bass, wow, so deep. The Audeze are so easy to listen to ( like the HD650 ) and my cd's just sound so much better in every way possible. Yes, they are a bit big and heavy but not so much so that they are uncomfortable. They are quite comfy really.

The Violectric gear is so good and clean. You can not hear the amp or dac, Just the music.  Thats my best way of describing it.

Next step for about $120 if you ever get curious ~ 3 pin XLR female to male for balanced cable operation between

the V100 and V800.

Did not have the V100 on hand last week but using the V800 with the Sugden Masterclass (accepts balanced 3pin input)

~ delightful.

Hi, been a while since I've been on. I Iove the Violectric gear and the Audeze, well !!  So lush and detailed and rich. Already ordered a pair of balanced leads on ebay. Should be here by Monday hopefully.  Around $86 from Eastern Oz. Do they really make a lot of difference ? I read somewhere the output power on the Violectric is higher on balanced than unbalanced. The figures quoted on the Violectric site is for balanced operation I believe. Is that true ? If so it should be even better with the Audeze. Now I'm wondering is it really worth getting the V200?   :-)

I think even the most hardened enthusiasts are only discovering now where the LCD-2 power limits lie as they're truly

stratospheric (15W), if you look at the Violectric data at 50ohms , there is only a 1.1V output voltage and 500mW difference

between the V100 and V200 ~ the real difference between those two lies in the amount of transistors in the signal

path with Violectric claiming a slightly superior sound from the V200's 8 x units versus the V100's x 4.

Personally in back to back testing I found there to be very little difference in comparison with the V100 and V200

running unbalanced off a V800 ~ there is a certain clarity to the V200 that is apparent with the LCD-2/HD800 on

reference material. It is by no means a massive difference.

The figures you see on their webiste should be for XLR as the crosstalk figures I am certain are for balanced

operation.

Balanced XLR operation though is a good move for $86, I find the V800 certainly sounds a lot nicer out of it's

native outputs over unbalanced ~ I also say that it prefers a Coax input feed with a good USB to SPDIF converter

over just straight USB to USB from the laptop ~ nothing new here, any good DAC in that $$ range usually prefers

Coax in my opinion

Hi, yeah can't wait to hear the balanced cables. I'm running coax from my Rotel RCD-1072. It just seems a waste now using a AUD$800.00 cd player just as a transport but the difference when going from the Rotel to V100 and now to the V800 to V100 was so much cleaner and much more detail. The bass seemed a little less but I think that's just because the V800 is tighter and more controlled in the bass and not so " loose, flabby " for want of a better description. The detail retreval was far greater though. It's cost me a lot of money getting to this point but it's well worth it. I just wish I'd done it in less steps. The V100 is my 5th amp and headphones, well, maybe 6 or 7. I just replaced my Shure SRH840 with the ATH-M50s as my closed pair. What great headphones for the price ! Now selling my HD650's

So as digital is digital, could I sell the Rotel and get a cheaper second hand cd player, with no loss in sound quality ?

My opinion on digital is it's just 0's and 1's so as long as they get to the other end of the cable etcc... the sound will be the same. Really these people spending $300+ on a HDMI cable for their hdtv wont get any benefit over a good well made $50 one. Same for digital audio ?

I've only been seriously into headphones for about 4 years I think, but have been a Hi-Fi enthusiast for about 32 years or so. I was trying to reach a sound quality that I heard at my uncle's house many many years ago back in the UK when I heard his Quad setup with eletrostatic speakers. I was blown away by the sound and when I got home to my house, my setup, which was a good setup, sounded , well, crap.

I think now with my Violectric and Audeze I have surpassed that sound quality.

My belief was in power of amps , speakers etc.. was to choose an amp with a power output getting close to the power handling of the speakers to drive them to sound their best, ie: you wouldn't get 150w speakers and drive them with a 10w/ch amp. Maybe more like 100w/ch or more. So getting back to the Audeze, would an amp with an output of 6 to 10w be more suited. This is only speculation. I'm not changing my Violectric for anything. This is my setup for many years to come.
