thanks for that. Seems like they are quite comparable.

With the AGD price, it is a no brainer.

Wow, such popularity of the 160D. Are people choosing the 160D including acknowledgment of the double in price?

Both the DAC and amp section are really good in the Burson. It is also a great pairing for LCD2s.

Is the dac section of the audiogd lacking then? And i've read that the amp section of the 160D is somewhat of a sidegrade to the Lyr, and that a Lyr with decent tubes is better sounding than the 160D. That being said, I've also read that the Lyr and amp section of the 10SE are very comparable. So accordingly, I don't know where the missing link is...

Sorry boirefish, but this topic is kinda pointless until more people get their hands on the NFB-10SE. We've already written about how well it stacks against the Lyr based on direct A/B comparisons, but I don't think any of the handful of 10SE owners have the Burson on hand. Any indication of preference for one over the other is pure speculation at this stage.

Yeah, I'd have to agree. People who are voting may be comparing the burson 160D with the 10ES, which is also fair enough.

Indeed!

Spent quite a considerable amount of time reading today... after having a good scout through the recommended amps for lcd-2's thread again, the Lyr is starting to look better than the amp section of the HA160D - with memorable quotes being "only bettered by a wa22" or "better than 1k amps with the right tubes"

as such, a standalone dac to accompany a Lyr would be the nfb 3 (since it's on promotion)?

If the 10SE is >90% as good as the original 10, I will get it in a heart beat.  In fact if I don't have a balanced beta22 incoming soon, I will get one myself.  For less than half the price of Burson and the SQ is definitely not 50% less of Burson, the AGD is a real bargain.  Keep in mind my WA22 is not 200% better than the Burson even it is way more than twice of the cost.

Do you want tubes or SS? This is the question. The 10SE is very refined and clean sounding. I am not a tube guy.

I did not say anything about AGD DAC at all. As always there are better and worse products and I only have the Burson and had read loads of opinions about before I got it and believe it is really good on the basis of those as wel as my own experience with it.
