Hi!
What is better choise for same price? They both have exactly same price in my country.

The 558 would be a better deal probably, then do the foam mod and your set!

Well, this time Sennheiser was smarter , doing the foam mod won't transform your hd558  into hd598.

According to  a review from headfonia:

On the first HD558 & HD598 article, I had posted a mod that was supposed to make the HD558 closer to the sound of the HD598. As with many modifications, however, when you gain some you also lose some. And the HD558 mod does sacrifice some amount of bass control, resulting in a slightly boomy bass area. Without going into too much detail on other changes with the mod, I felt that in the long run, the stock HD558 configuration is the better version, and I’ve reverted my HD558 back to the stock configuration.

 

I'd get either the hd555 for the mod, or the hd598 wink.gif

I suppose you could always try the mod and if you don't like it just revert back to the default setup. Whatever headphone you pick you'll be happy, I love my 555s

I would get the HD595. I plan on getting the HD555 and doing the mod. Hopefully that will scratch my Sennheiser itch until I can get a pair of HD650.

The HD-558 is a newer design then the HD-595.

So I say HD-558.
