Upgrade from Audio-Technica ATH-M50? - Page 2

I would think the M50 being designed for studio/professional use would not be the ideal choice over the DT880 for your audio engineering classes.

And I hope no audio engineer in the studio who worked on the music I listen to are using the DT880 or the D5000 or the D2000!!!

Gear mentioned in this thread:

I wouldn't say I love it, I don't ever listen to mine ;)

Spoken like a true audiophile.  The graphs can tell you everything you want to know about a set of cans, but it always comes down to how they feel to you.

I would hope said audio engineer would be using multiple sound sources to produce a final mix of any song.

You can never rely on just a set of cans or just one set of monitors to produce a great mix, you have to listen to it in different places.

If only frequency response graphs were that easy.  :(

I'm not talking about FR graphs, I'm talking about waterfall plots which are much more revealing.  But still, you should let your ears be the judge.  That's the point right?  Sounding good to you.

Well I've seen a couple people question a couple particular waterfall graphs here and there based on their personal experiences.  I'm one for scientific proof behind sound and am a true skeptic of things like burn-in, cable changing and a bunch of other audiophile jargon, but at the same time I don't take most graphs seriously.

D2000 sounds way faster than the M50 to me, as well, spare for a slight ringing I can sense in the 8k region.
