Hi folks,

I would appreciate some critique on the following upgrade that I plan to do for my JKennys modified Hiface.

It is currently a Jkenny mod (I guess mk1, partial powering by 2 batteries bypassing regulators, but still using USB power), connected to a low power Via epia ITX motherboard, powered by Antec Earthwatts SMPS.

I can subjectively say that I definitely heard the improvement after modding, but I don't have a stock hiface to do a blind test so can't say for sure. Anyways, I thought of making my Hiface completely independent from the PC power, by cutting the usb extension cable and connecting hiface to a separate DIY linear 5v source.

It would be based on http://www.audio-gd.com/Pro/diy/PSU09/PSU09EN.htm coupled with torroidal transformer.

- Does this mod make sense, given that the clocks are already powered from the battery?

- Would the described linear PSU be better than a battery?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts
