DAC on T-Mobile Galaxy SII

Thread Starter

I have heard rumors that the T-Mobile version of the SGSII will have the Wolfson chip as opposed to the Yamaha one. I have not been able to find a definitive answer through Google and was wondering if anyone had an answer.

I know it is more expensive because of the different CPU at 1.5 Ghz, which doesn't mean it's better than the other. I have to choose between the SGSII and the HTC Amaze 4G, and the audio quality plays a huge part in this decision. Thank you very much.

If you want sound quality don't even consider the SGSII. It's real crap even with Cyanogenmod 7 and the built DSP Manager or with the PowerAmp Pro player in the android market.

Don't know anything about the HTC, but if I could go back in time, I wouldn't have bought the SGSII.

Well, once icecreamsanwich comes with the full USB support you should have a kickass portable mediacenter for the portable dacamp. So it's still a good choice.

Just got my Clip+ today, after rockboxing that little thing is a serious upgrade to the SGS-II. Without rockbox it was a sidegrade :-P

Cheap and I will be able to use the microsd later when I switch to a SGS-II fueled portable rig.

At least that's my current plan.
